Just had this custom Koa Gibson J45. As we all know the Gibson has a unique tone and this is due to the short scale on this workhorse model.
What is the difference between this Custom J45 over the normal J45.
* This uses the Gold Gotor butterbean tuners instead of the Chrome Grover tuners
* No sunburst on the beautiful tight grain sitka spruce top
* the Gibson logo on the headstock, inlays on the fretboard and bridge are all blue/green Pau abalone shells as compared to normal pearl inlays
* this backs uses the AA Koa on the back and sides instead of the Stain mahogony..
* I've upgraded the Plastic TUSQ saddle with a FMI saddle plus removed the cheap plastic cream bridge pins with lovely dyed bone pins..this gives a more responsive improved tone and also a more played in tonal voice. The trebles are way sweeter with slight more mids as the bass response is tightened .
If you ever played a J45 ..you will notice that it does not sound like your average BRIGHT sounding modern type of guitar...the first two to three strums will leave you wanting more ..
enjoy the review cheers Jarvis
Red Rosewood fretboard on this piece...wine red in fact.
sweet looking Koa backs
