Getting some performing experience!!

Hi guys and fellow musicians.
Does anyone know what are the avenues/sources for a pianist to get some real performing experience,
I mean instead of just practising and honing your skills at home.
'Cos actually I seen other musician friends of mine doing gigs outside and am kind of envious of them.

busking? but need license though.. or you could form/join bands within ur circle of frewns?

No, I don't think busking is for me as I'm studying right now and my music genre is more to a classical side.
Just wondering how do those wedding/lounge pianists get a job?
