hey guys ! i need help with MIJ strats! what's e diff between a ST-45 and ST-43 strat for example and also the others in the 'ST' series. has anyone bought the ST-45 from luthers? they cost $790... does it play well?

can someone tell me how to 'set-up' a guitar right? like what to look for and ensure when setting up a guitar. one of my friends sent his guitar to be set-up at luthers for $40 and he said it played great after.

thanks alot in advance guys. =)

I'm not sure, but does this "FREAKIN search before u ask or say anything!" culture exist in most forums? Should it?

Not that tough to extend a helping hand la ya...unless the fella is a jackass or just asking plain stupid non-sensical Qs.

Anyway, a set-up typically involves setting of the string action to your preference, ensuring the neck is straight, adjusting the intonation of the strings at specific frets, and for some better places a set-up also includes polishing of frets, cleaning of the fretboard and the body, as well as polishing of the other metal parts of the guitar.

There are quite a lot of ppl who provide set-up services in Singapore, do a search and you'll dig up past threads abt ppl who do set-ups and some comments from clients.

I don't know abt the ST-model strats, can't give any advice on that.

With regards to your setup, go to this link.

As a musician, you should learn how to setup your own guitar. Getting a decent setup is relatively easy. Getting it great is another story. It will take time. But it you can't afford the time, like me, just send it to someone who can. And a great setup is subjective to the player. For a newbie, a decent setup would feel like a million bucks. But for someone who been playing for more than 10 years, you can tell a decent setup from a great one.

You need help, we can help. But at least ask a worthwhile question. You can find out quite a bit if you actually LOOK FOR IT. I'm sure your answer regarding the ST series is out there somewhere. Just google it.
