Toneport, Semi hollow guitars and floyd rose bridge.(EDITED)

hey good day or nite everyone,
i write this post to enquire about the usage of Gearbox and Line 6 Toneport. I wonder if the Creative speakers are enough to produce the sound exact and near exact with a real amplifier. Or maybe you kind people might be able to recommend speakers. Oh ya before i forgot, can a floyd bridge be built into a semi hollow guitar? Sorry but i'm new to semi hollow. Thanks a lot.

Which model are you referring to? Technically speaking, Creative home entertainment speakers are not designed to reproduce a flat response sound but they can be used for mixing also if you know how to compensative for the extra frequencies. Its better to do mixing on proper studio monitors though where bass and trebs are not boosted nor mids are cut.

Hi platinum! :D

Hey, if you are just practicing or recording alone, you can do away with speakers and use a good set of headphones. A decent one (don't have to be "monitor" quality) is not expensive at all nowadays. I myself am using either an old iPod earphone, an old Senheiser, or a Skullcandy hphones. (I'm cheap!) And you won't disturb the neighbours/family while playing/recording. ;)

But if you intend to play/jam in a group using the Gearbox/Toneport, then...

The thing is, you need to set the sound/preset from the Gearbox to get good amplifier sounds. The preset sounds are too heavily processed in-my-opinion. (Maybe its just me...) So play with the settings and create your "own presets" to get the sound you want. Try tweaking the amp/speakers/mic without any effects at all. And once you're satisfied with the tone/crunch/sound, then add the other effects/eq. That's how it works for me anyway...

Good luck, and keep us updated with your quest!

hey guys thanks for replying to my thread. And yeah sorry to confuse you guys but i'm planning to use these recording interfaces namely TonePort™ GX,
TonePort™ UX1 or TonePort™ UX2. So yeah I just wanna record what i'm playing. Any more specific headphones/speakers you guys can recommend? Oh one more thing, can i actually use pedals with TonePorts? WIll it be spoilt? Sorry I'm new.):

you can use pedals with the toneport.. not a problem at all...However, from my experience it doesn't sound too good..

for the speaker...the one they use at citymusic for testing sounds really amp like man.. don't know what's the model thou... I used the small creative 2:1 Speakers...worked well...not amp like..but good enough for practice.

Before I bought a toneport, I had my spider III 15 as my physical amp for home use. If I would like to hear my gearbox through speakers, i would just plug the line-out of my toneport to the cd/mp3 in of my spider III 15. It sounds great in my opinion.
