what i got for 2006: Ibanez SA2020

this is my 2nd Korean Prestige guitar & i'm totally happy with the playbility/ tone. the SA2020 is another unit from korea's WM factory, the same production people who handle PRS' SE range of guitars.

the SA2020 features a non-lacquered neck rear, despite the sunburst finish suggesting otherwise.

i have a negative expectation of the Dimarzio IBZ humbuckers as i find them not too appealing in the Prestige RGs, tone-wise. however, their performance here are pleasant enough for me (might be their interaction with the mahogany body) & i've decided not to swap them.

lol sub... i bought the same guitar too... got so furious when i heard it does not come with a hardcase... nevertheless they gave me one hardcase too...
hey sub.. dont u find the dimarzio/ibz pickups very thin sounding in this guitar.. even after eq tweaking.. its still sounds thin IMO

you shouldn't be furious, because if you do, it reflects your ignorance. you should ask whether the Korean Prestige models come with a hardcase- they don't. no offence ok? 8)

i'm not a fan of the Dimarzio IBZ pickups- i prefer the Duncan IBZ instead. however, i find their performance here more acceptable than the ones in the RGs, thanks to the mahogany body. i won't swap them because they sound fine with my amp (Peavey XXL). if you plug it into a 10" speaker equipped amp, then it'll suffer more...

they sound good in my mahogany body RG as well.

that's how i feel about them generally, they fare better in mahogany. not to say they are bad in the basswood RGs though, but they sound less appealing there.

tany: you made a very sensible bridge swap 8)

yup i sure did! i was lucky to have gotten the gotoh trem (old version) from a guy for $100. although it's older version, 5 years old i think, it still works damn well!

and JR-V, u should save up for a new trem too!

repulse87: yes it's a JEM, but a JEM JR, in other words, a fake JEM just an RG with a monkey grip and different input jack. hehe but i bought it for $560 came with the horrid ILT1 trem, but the construction is superb! cant ask for more! the neck is thin and smooth, the frets are well done, the body is too.

but i modded most of it so now it sounds and plays great! hehe, i bought it on impulse without realising it was steve vai's signature. hehe was a n00b then...

and i got these during SL sales, the limited edition de7 and ts7. i was lucky!

MrE: Woah man... That's really NEAT! I love the tele, I think it is the one in Swee Lee's fish tank then... Beautiful... 8)

The LP is a Burny?

Thanks :)

the tele is not from sweelee, it's a MIJ reissue from G77, the 'texas specials' in there have excellent tone, IMO

yup the LP is a burny, from Luther a couple of years ago, quite a steal at $620

hey sub, has sweelee restocked the guitars? are there new ones?

no restock as yet. at this time of the year, distributors all over have virtually nothing new to offer, until NAMM kicks off... 8) this is partly the reason why there are SALE events aplenty- to clear off yesteryears' surpluses.
