Fury grows over Denmark cartoons

I worked under a muslim manager before and he kept cursing like that, and making insulting comments about Jesus Christ, I felt very terrible, but I did not scold him or condemn him for it, because I thought that he just didnt have enough understanding about my religion, thus the insensitivity.

u shouldn't say that he's a muslim manager
u should say that u are working under a malay manager

muslim or those that practice the faith will not make insulting comments about Jesus Christ. As Jesus is also a prophet.

The west has produced Mohammad cartoon caricatures.
Iran is producing another cartoon on the holocaust.
What next?

It's a wild world. Shit happens. That's fate i guess. You live, you die. Our security is being jeaopardise by the people in the east and the people in the west.

Then again. It's fate. You live, you die.

Oh to the dude with the malay manager, I strongly encourage you to report him. It's people like him that gives the community a bad name.

azly, i strongly encourage a lil restrain to the order. ur being in subordinate but i do appreaciate ur view on the topic. but please do not infer that the more damn we give the situation the more fury there is. this is a thread with friendly opinions and open-mind conversations. no one is gonna start a war with this thread.

i believe that the right to freedom of speech does not mean that it is an obligation to offend or be insensitive.Since the newspaper have the right to offend then surely their targets have the right to be offended rite?

If the editors of the newspaper are brave enough to knowingly offend a community then they should be bold enough to face the consequences.

both sides are in the wrong.

you dont go around insulting people's religion
and you don't try to kill someone because he has a different opinion.
Fuckin right. "hey, those guys are saying we are all terroists! Lets take over their embassies and kill them".
People need to fucking get used to a free press. Not pointing fingers or saying its right, but cartoons like South Park make horrible fun of Jesus on a regular basis.

haha, yup, all that stuff is catholic. Its vastly different from christianity

umm, Catholic is under the umbrella of Christianity.
They're Christians too. As long as you worship God you're considered a Christian.
Then you're divided into Protestants and Catholics.
Long ago, everyone was a Catholic. Then some king broke away from the Catholic chuch because he was not allowed to divorce his wife, and he started his own form of Christianity, which was the Protestant movement.
And now Protestents are broken down again, into Anglicans, Baptists, Methodists etc etc.
However these are all just different sects under the big, big umbrella of Christianity.

And thats the simplest breakdown of a very long, complicated history. Go read up on it sometime.

Honestly, people in Singapore really need to learn this, casue I've met a LOT of people who claim to worship God and be a good Christian but they're all wrong in their history of their religion.

Well to be honest, if u think about it there was no such thing as religion long time ago. islam came sometime during 600A.D++. cant remember the exact same date :) protestants were formed because martin luther king did not agree to the concepts the catholics had and believed that everything was getting superficial.

thus martin luther king formed and revolutionised the protestants. but yes i do understand that many people have mistaken christians to be protestants.

lets do a break down... Christ-Tians. So its like Mar-tians. Christians are people who basically believe in Christ. they are not known as protestants. protestants in my opinion sounds like extremists. i would really recommend the term christians to be widely used unless the situation calls for it.

the world would be so much better if no one founded holy scriptures. because even with the leadership of a clerics, priests, monks(so on so forth) the world is still in ultimate chaos.

Sometimes I feel a personal relationship with God is more important than labels, scriptures and doctrine. I don't need someone telling me whats wrong with me, or what is sinful. We are no longer living in a warring era where morals were not the norm. We can make enlightened choices ourselves. Fighting and persecuting others over religious institutions, sects, labels and ideals is much worse in my opinion. If there's a word for it it would be "unholy".

However, I do feel for those bullied Muslims who are provoked for no reason by the arrogant west. But violent protest is never the way.
