fret buzz

Hello,

Whats the main cause for fret buzz for acoustic guitar?

Will changing a new set of strings help? Cos my strings now are defuat strings..

When i play chords, esp 6 string chords like barred, it requires more a little more strenght and accuracy (e.g need to press quite accurately in the middle of the fret) than other guitar, is it due to the defaut strings too?

Thanks a lot!

2 reasons..

string gauge is too heavy for your liking.. remedy: use a lighter gauge.

the action is too high.. remedy: send it for a set up.

:)

mr threadstarter, for acoustics, accuracy IS the key.

correct me if i'm wrong here, but you must be slightly new to guitars, so abit of advice yah? do practice your barres, finger strength is achieved over a span of time. i've played acoustic's for afew years now, and it tends to happen now and then still, but its a matter of feeling the barre, and knowing its right. take some time with that.

alternatively, as mr deathism has stated, use a lighter gauge, default strings are usually 0.12's which might be a tad bit tough for a beginner though its excellent practice, you have the choice to go to 0.11 (i dont recommend any thinner though, loses the oomph). when you can handle that, you can jump back on the 0.12 bandwagon for a huge full sound :D

thank you guys!

yep i am still a newbie XDI will practice more!

most of my fret buzz happens at the first 2 bass strings.. they need to be precisely pressed in the middle of the fret. Hence when i do barred chord of stuff when fingering is slightly compromised then the buzz occurs..

Action to high will have fret buzz? my action is pretty low.. as its a cutaway guitar..

Another question, what brand and type do u guys recommend? i think i will wanna try changing away the defaut strings too.

Thanks again! Appreciated all help! =)
