floyd rose

when it comes to FR trems, listen to Shredcow. he is very experienced with FR trems. his words may be blunt but its really for your own good.

Eh eh eh... I don't know THAT much loh. Just read up a lot, try here try there, assemble, take apart, setup some... When I've hit setting up my 100th floyd then I let u know k? ;)

The Schallers are really fine... just have to take care when setting it up. There are some schallers that come with steel reinforced (you can google on how Schaller did it) baseplate screw holes, so that solved the problem. Or u can install a plate like Everdying did. Then again, $375 a pop, way out.

The Gotohs are reliable, sound good and can take abuse. I mean, you don't wanna be concerned when tightening the strings in the floyd right? Like worried what if the screw strips, the saddle breaks off, etc etc... I assure you, nothing like that with the Gotoh. I've used it, carried my Saber up by its trem bar, setup, restrung dunno how many times, and I'm not exactly light with my hands. The Gotohs are the cheapest of the highly recommended floyds, USD125.

Again, if you wanna go and try a cheaper floyd, do what research you can, but if it screws up on you, or IF it works!, do come back and share. Let us know how bad/good/surprising it was.

Cheaper floyd that worked for me - the licensed schaller style floyd on an Epiphone Gothic guitar or something... big surprised. Then again there's some QC issues with it.

Oh, another cheap trem that MIGHT very well work out. Posting here, I think people will run to snag it up. PM me for details... I think there's only 1 left in that store.

oh btw I just went to GC today. yes they have a few licensed trems within your budget range and they are brand new. they are not schaller trems though. I've heard that its from Japan or something. I've totally no idea how good they are. all I know is that they are licensed and within your price range. ask Kelvin to provide more details on those trems.

this is just a suggestion really. just trying to answer your question. dont come and find me if you are not happy with your purchase :) .

Floyd Rose "Ping"

I have one of that "Ping" Floyd Rose, used to have it on my MIM Strat, it's stable enough for doing dive bombs and such (can't really pull up, the cavity isn't routed). I don't know how it'll do as a floating trem.

By the way, the saddles on the low E and A strings are rusty, and they rust fast. I might have sweaty palms, but I clean the trem occassionally everytime after I played it. I've been looking for replacement saddles online but all I came across were the String Saver saddles. They cost around S$150 after doing the calculations.

Are these good? Does anyone have any experience with them? I can almost buy a new trem with that money, but then I'll have to change the nuts and stuff. It'll be troublesome. Help and views appreciated, thanks.

Kahuna, youre looking for a replacement or wanna fit a new trem?
perhaps u wanna take a look at wilkinson vs50 or vs100..i believe these trems are reliable as well ..
but they are not that "floyd rose" type.. :)

kahuna, try to do more research. u'll learn more miscellaneous stuff along the way that will aid u in your quest. as as for within your budget, as stated countless times above, nothing thats definitely reliable is within your budget at the moment. suggestion, start saving up. no point getting something within your budget but that doesn't hold the tuning well, forcing u to change the trem again right? :)

the schaller and gotoh are pretty much able to be dropped in straight, but do note that if u do decide to go for the old ibanez trems, extra routing might probably have to be done for the top of the cavity. 8)

thats gonna be ALOT of wood taken out.

if you got the cash, get the kahler since they dont require a thru body routing.
thats what gibson put on the LP in the 80s.

some one in Singapore should have my modified Wonderbar trem.

Was sold together with my Ibanez Blazer long ago.
Mounts on a flat body with no routing
But i routed the Blazer so pull up range was greater.
