Floyd Rose Re-stringing

I'm basically too lazy ta search the forum for related topics so here i am, a noob at floyd rose or other such trem bridges. Just bought a new set of strings n now 1 already snapped! First thing i did wrong i guess was taking out 2 strings, coz tht led the whole bridge to sink all the way POOF! There i was staring at the sudden rebellion. Ok so i went on to change the strings just like tht, bt 1 at a time. Then after everything was done, i still had the bridge at its sunken depth. What i did was tighten the tuning pegs, wich raised it. Then i started tuning the strings, wich made the bridge go evn higher n higher. I gt fed up. Took to the back, adjusted the springs, thought mayb i'd tighten all the strings first, then WOO! The last string rebelled against me. Ok long story so now conclusion.HOW TO RE-STRING?! :x Please give me details..If anything abt the springs, how many is recommended, n how far i should screw in/out etc. My details r as follows:

Guitar: Jackson PS1 (I know, itz old. Bt shuttup)
Springs: 2 8O
Tuning: Eb/D# (Yes. Im an Eb guy becoz it provides cheat code to bend)
Bridge: Probably the original, old jackson floyd rose patent (The trem bar is screw-in)

schred did u change gauge?

normally i would insert a9v batt at the back prior to stringing the strings...
other than that pls refer to the other thread..

hey i had this problem about the bridge sinking in before, but once u changed the strings, everything is normal! that time it really freaked me out man

Well, the key is still to not remove all the strings at once. Remember the floyd balances on it's knife edges, and even if you put a 9v in the cavity and remove all the strings, some shifting of the trem will occur which will throw off your intonation.

Like what pooo said, the easiest way to change strings on a floyd is to go so, string by string.

But there will be times you want to take off the whole trem to clean it.

Best to know how to deal with that too.

Besides, I always take all my strings off when I change strings and give my trem a good cleaning. If I had to rush, it would take me 20 mins tops to get it back to perfect float. It really isn't a difficult thing, once you know the tricks of the trade. ;)

ShredCow taught me how to restring a floyd in a flash. Quite simple, I went from total gundu to restringer in an hour flat. Anyway, Dan, we should do a floyd restringing competition some time. We set world record la. Fastest floyd restring.

whoa thx y'all..anyways i went to davis did a re-string (fucking bought another set of strings again) thot they'd do the job for me. In the end they gt the tuning rite bt the bridge was obviously lower. haiya they dont evn have speedloader lol. So i came back hm n messed ard with the springs n guess what i finally managed to get everything in place, plus the tuning  Cheers to me! :partyman:

haha, machiam rifle stripping and assembling back in the army!

Not a bad idea. Remove strings, replace with new strings, tune up, balance bridge, perfect float, lock the nut and cock the guitar. All set.
