OLP mm1 has purple colour i think but i don't see them in davis anymore for a very long time

Whats the point of getting the colour you want when you dont like the tone, aren't used to the fretboard, etc?
Budget and preference in the guitar comes first, followed by the colour..
We can name hundreds of guitars that may be well over his budget, or too cheap for him..
How about a John Petrucci Ernie Ball Musicman in Mystic Dream finish?
Is that in the budget?
Or does he want strat types of guitars, of perhaps LP..?
PLEASE dont give such general options..

someone whos new in guitar generally cant hear the tonal difference anyway.

its comes with time and experience. his 2nd guitar will probably be to his tastes tonally. imo

standardvalue has a purple dean guitar. not sure if it's still there or not though.
