Fender Strat.

On the webby you provided, it says "Our Clapton Signature Strat® guitar is guaranteed to please all you “Slowhand” fans. " So what does slowhand means?

what's that? Vai would never ask for a strat? Vai played a strat in 'Flexable', before the Ibanez endorsement. 'The Ultra Zone' had some fills done with a Strat, of course.

Sorry Beast: what's your e-mail? apologies...

PS: If you aren't aware- Swee Lee sale currently on (5th to 6th June), lots of juicy strats on sale...

Yeah, i'm not saying strat style guitar sucks or what. I just feel that LP guitar is versatile. I've seen jazz players, bluesman, metalheads, rocker, and even folk guitarist using LP. So it's just kinda funny that a LP isn't versatile as a strat.

I juz feel that a LP is not as clean compared to a Fender or rather Hum compared to Single but it could be due to my EMGs I juz can't get a nice clean outta it

single coil equipped Fenders have a very different definition of 'bass', some people swear that they are actually devoid of bass... i'm saying this because if you are accustomed to your LP's humbucker, the single coil might be a very different experience altogether.

Beast, if this your first investment in a single coil equipped guitar, i'd say go for it. it'll give you a different palatte of tones to work with. i'm not really a sigle coil tone fan myself, but i invested in a strat nevertheless... 8)

Coming back to what to buy..........

If you really want a versatile fender, reasonable price, I still suggest the Highway one fat strat, HSS config, You can compare it to the Mex fat strats. This one has 22 frets, not 21. I almost bought it, but instead i got an american standard...... If you have the $$$, i really suggest the american standard, really versatile, I'd say the most versatile single coil fender.

People just say highway ones are "lousy" as they have not tried them, and just because they are entry level for MIA ones, but the electronics are definitely better than the Mex ones.

i seem to prefer the Highway's pickups rather than the Am Series. maybe i'm not one who favours high output single coils... also, i find the Highway's pickups to be a true reflection of a strat tone- bright but letting the body resonance through...

try as many strats as possible & choose accordingly- that's best.

hmm so u guys saying, highway1 guitar are better than mex std strats? hmm how about made in jap fender strat. equally as good as highway1? :>

Wait, now you have to figure out, if you want the classic TWANG of the fender single coil, or versatality of your guitar, i think for a fender it is better to buy a guitar for a specific type of sound which no other can get.
So maybe you should get single coils, try the highway single coil strat at swee lee. If you want jap strats, I know that swee lee doesnt have them, but i think luther does. I dont know much about jap ones though, the price for their standard strats, are lower than the highway ones, I've only tries the ritchie blackmore Japan strat, and it was superb.
Its your choice, if you want "fender sound" or versatile guitar.

not that any guitar is better than the other in general words. It up to the individual person on his/her preference on the various model, tone characteristic etc.

Without trying out the guitar yourself, knowing the tone characteristic that you like, it a bit difficult to judge the mia, mij, mim fairly in term of words, unless one can list out the various differences/pros & cons of the different model. End of the day, its still up to the preference of the person who knows what are they looking for in the guitar, imho :D

there's no one guitar out-performing another by virtue of its country of origin. it's purely personal preference. while the Jap fender strats are fantastic in built, i don't quite like its feel. however i find the Jap Jaguar/ Jazzmaster to be superb all-round players.

once again, audition the guitars in person, then decide.

Once again, i agree. It's up to personal preference. It's just like apple and orange, chicken and duck, there is not best out of the two but it's your personal preference.
