I think 1.5k for a MIA strat is ok but there are retailers in the US who sell below the MF, M123, SamAsh etc 'street price' so I would just use that for a ballpark figure.

Yes some things are quite cheap or at least well priced at SL but I would say that because other things are a complete ripoff (cough cough...Gibson) AND because they have that stupid 'mark everything up then discount back to recommended retail' policy, it breeds a deep distrust of thier pricing hence threads like this....

Agree with this. 1.5k for a MIA first one strat is rather reasonable.

Sweelee can monopolize brands like Gibson etc due to the fact they are the only retailers in Singapore who have the authoritative cert from Gibson to ship to and fro their products. Other shops you see owning Gibsons are usually 2nd/3rd hand or PI ( Parallel Imported )

Actually, MF, samash etc did have the 949 USD standard MIA in stock until everyone snapped them up. They were obliged to offer them at that price for items they had in stock up to the date of the price hike.

Subsequent new arrivals after the price hike had to be priced at the new street price.
But I did recall looking through the options and having been allowed to choose a 949 USD price or the new price for the same item if they had duplicates in stock. But those shops tagged the serial number to the price offered. And they are pretty ethical at that to offer the items they had at the old price and newer items received after the price hike to be priced accordingly.

It may be that sweelee is having this promo to clear their current fender inventory so they can make new orders. But whatever the case, 1.5k is a steal. If you can get the 08 spec for 1.5k, i'd say just drop the money and get one if you're after a strat.

For a deluxe MIA, there are no differences since 06 at least.

$1.5K for a MIA Strat with hardcase is a good deal considering Fender hiked up their prices quite recently and u get to enjoy the price before the hike took place. I wanted to get my hands on one actually, but got bitten by the custom guitar bug...hehehe : )
