I called up Sweelee BrasBrasah to enquire on the price of Fender MIA Strat.
Deluxe - $1899
Standard - $1599

Will the prices be alot cheaper than that on Sweelee Sale?

Anyone that bought Fender MIA's Deluxe or Standard on Sweelee Sale willing to tell me how much it cost on the Sale itself? :D

I just bought a american standard start at 1.5k with hardshell case =) last month from sweelee. I dun think they will have sales price for american standard strat cos is already on promotion price.

Did you ask for siennia sun brust? as it is 99bucks more in cost

I kinda disagree man...overpriced compare to who?buying overseas?or buy and sell section on soft?

sweelee tend to give discount from their retail price. But you got to ask them

well, since i had a very bad encounter with sweelee when i first started out, i tend to stay away from them unless its a neccessity.

and yes they are overpriced, a credit card will solve all issues buying online.
however, maybe sweelee makes up for it as you can test it out first haha

In the view of american strats, no. I'd say sweelee has priced their American Stds pretty well.

compare to the current US price of a fender strat which is around 1.2k++ USD in musicianfriend, 1.5k SGD is a good deal

Before the price increase in feb, it was USD950, sweelee probably clearing stock that was before the price increase came into effect.

That said, I think for 1.5k SGD, its a good deal regardless of whatever the marketing people in SL are trying to do.

Yes I think sweelee do have some very good pricing items. I would say american standard selling off at 1.5kSGD is a good deal

yeah i was surprised when they told me 1.5k -1.6k for standard.
cuz sweelee are usually overpriced..

2008 standard has improved features right?
are there any difference in '07 & 08' deluxe strats?

I don't think there are any real difference.

But whatever they quoted you is way less than major US retailers (simple google search will reveal the price) so please jump on the wagon if you're getting one.

However, if you are going to pay the post 30% hike price for a new piece, I'd strongly suggest saving $500 more and get a used Suhr instead.

The current Swee Lee American Standard Strat price is an excellent price. This price is lower than some online retailers in the US where arguably, is close to the lowest price available anywhere.

To those who say 'don't buy from Swee Lee, they are overpriced', this is, as usual, an over generalization.

i picked up my am standard at 1.5 k as well.
I think its rather competitive but i dun know if that price would stay for long.
its promotional.

Reasonable prices

I think not all items are overpriced at Swee Lee. Yes,I do agree that some products are pricey because of the small quantities they bring in. Do not forget the warranty given to you. The American Std. is really a good buy.
I think their amps are also reasonable. When you do any comparison it must be apple to apple. When you travel to overseas then you probably know that they are reasonable. The extras you are paying are for the warranty. I bought an amp on line which is cheaper by around 20% compare to local prices but I am now in deep shit because my amp is having some noises and for me to fix it I have to pay $120. Had I bought it from Swee Lee then I won't have to spend this amount because my amp is only 7 months old.
Penny wise,pound foolish

I think 1.5k for a MIA strat is ok but there are retailers in the US who sell below the MF, M123, SamAsh etc 'street price' so I would just use that for a ballpark figure.

Yes some things are quite cheap or at least well priced at SL but I would say that because other things are a complete ripoff (cough cough...Gibson) AND because they have that stupid 'mark everything up then discount back to recommended retail' policy, it breeds a deep distrust of thier pricing hence threads like this....

You have the checked the differences of them on fender.com, haha actually just go for the sound that you like most.

Fender's webbie somehow overprices stuff by quite abit. Best to check out places like zzsound/musiciansfriend/sweetwater/thomann/music123/samash

Do the conversion rate add in shipping fee and more or less u will get ur price. Do a comparison and u have ur answer.
