those of you who have quite an experience with fender pickups, tell me a little bit more about their line of pickups cause an interest has developed to search for their highest gain ones.is there even a high gain pickup that is able to make guitars scream?

if you do have other recommendations other than fender's line of pick ups,do list them with reasons.am looking to fit in a strat.

cheers.

If you want high-gain pickups, why not look to single-coil sized humbuckers by seymour duncan and dimarzio? From experience, fender pickups are mostly low gain and are meant to accentuate the subtle nuances of playing. If you want a chugga chugga type of sound, humbuckers would be better - i.e. SD Hot Rails, Dimarzio Tone Zone S.

If you are looking to do alot of pinch harmonics, perhaps the Dimarzio YJM pickups?

lol he's lookin for a high gain pickup dont think the YJM will fit his bill thou it's an awesome pickup.the highest distortion for a single coil i think it's the dimarzio super distortion S , or u can check out dimarzio newest virtual solo heard that it's pretty good.

was thinking about the YJM's too.so i guess fender's line isn't what im looking for aye?cause in my mind,i have the thought of lace sensors.i want to know in fender's line what's their highest gain strat pickup.

if you are looking for high gain, I dont think Fender pickups are for you cos they will be noisy.

dimarzio HS-3 or SD rails would be a better option for high gain stuff

get fender hot noiseless strat pick ups - it's the ultimate holy grail.

Google it and see what I mean

When you say scream, are you talking about pinch harmonics and leads? or chugga chugga rhythm?

For the former, ANY Fender pickup is fine. It's more about the player. My CS69s (which are probably the lowest DC resistance pups Fender makes at 5.8k ohms and 2.2 henries) will attest to any form of pinch harmonic you can think of. Plugged into the right gain pedal, and you get very screaming lead tones.

For the Latter, plugging the CS 69s into a BOSS MT-2 is awesome...

But if you want a hotter, more focused tone, then I'd say the SCNs or the Hot Noiseless are quite alright... cold and sterile, but might be good for what you're looking for.

I think the SCN ones are an improvement over the Hot Noiseless ones - I have those on a strat, and gotta say not very impressive. On the other hand the SCNs on a tele are quite rockin. Hey, a Bill Lawrence design can't really be too wrong.

The highest gain (ex) Fender pup is probably the Lace Sensor Red. The whole LS range sounds really mediocre clean - if anything defines cold and sterile it's those (the Hot Golds were a slight improvement from the original Gold/Silver/Blue/Red line, but still) - there's just no air to them, they don't sound like they're breathing. But some people do like that sound and as with all LS pickups, they take pedals quite nicely - very little feedback too (could be a bane or boon either way). The Dual Red was the hottest of the lot, but frankly I used one for years and I don't miss it at all.

Hi,

One of the 'highest gain' pickups I've come across for Fender is the Texas Specials. The bridge pickup is pretty ridiculous, got quite shocked when I tried plugging into a normal marshall tubed amp and tried doing some chugga chugga.

It isn't the MOST ideal chugga chugga pickups you can get thats for sure, but it can pull off; stuffs like Iron Maiden chuggas, Bon Jovi chuggas etc.

Again, don't quote me; I'm a newbie :(

PS: It can get very noisy with high gain and loud volumes.

i've done a little reading on the lace sensors.the red ones seem to interests me in terms of what im looking for.it is said that the ls series aren't that noisy and the reds are able to give the gain i want.

just to clear things out, what my intentions are,is to find pickups that are able to let me do my leads and rhythms.i too read a couple of reviews that players mix and match the different LS coloured pickups.

anyone here who's had lace sensors fitted in their strats?

In your case, it's most likely the amp that gave you that sound you wanted. Not the single coils.

Single coils are always misunderstood. The common perception is that it doesn't drive as well as a humbucker or whatever...

In all my years of playing, I've learnt one thing, if I haven't learnt anything else: The 2 key ingredients to a heavy sound are the amp, and the player.

If your playing style is very Metallica-like with tons of damn muting and expecting a heavy onslaught of bass thumps, then a single coil might not be right for the job, because that's not what it's built for. But if you want a heavy flurry of low notes with enough treble and looseness to kill (think Yngwie), then single coils are the right way to go.

It's all about knowing what the characteristics are of each platform, and knowing how to optimise each set up.
