Ok.. lets not start this... Lets not make a distinction.. between who's more hardcore and who's not..

Hardcore is for everyone.. as long as you are able to associate with the mindset and understand what its all about... whether u listen to atreyu or gorilla biscuits.. whether u X ur hands.. or wear tight fitting t's and jeans.. or sporting long fringe.. there's a place for everyone.. Lets not make such issues a bane to the already divided scene..

It'll be awesome.. if everyone.. whether ur 14 yrs old or 35... would go to the gig and support the bands playing... by singing-along, moshing, floorpunch.. whateva... Its all about SUPPORT!! And its what the scene needs most .. than more character bashing..

I'm looking forward to an awesome evening.. See ya guys there..

Last evening's gig was one kick-ass event i shall not forget...

It brought back my youth.... even though i'm 28 and still going on strong.. hehe
Those sing-alongs, floor-punching, moshing session.. gave me hope for the future.. Hardcore still exist in Singapore!!

I would love to see more acts coming to our shore and would definitely attend to more local gigs featuring local bands... if only work committments dont come in the way..

I do have one wish though... i do hope more gig-goers and those who support alternative music and lifestyle would come down and show their support.. Young kids, old kids.. everyone.. We dont have much to around with.. but if every little one of us were present.. every show will be more vibrant..

I have to say that I am also a guilty party.. but maybe at times, it came down to the fact that there can be more than one gig acts a day and im spoilt for choice..

Tics prices can be a bane too.. i've observed tat tics can cost $10 and above nowadays.. Not a great excuse for me since i'm earning a salary.. but if i'm finding it a bit steep... cant imagine how those kids (students, those not working and getting meagre allowance from parents) would feel.. Even though i believe such extra cost would probably pay for the elaborate technical equipments to add on to the experience.. I'm sure it is a factor to deter kids from coming to shows..

However.. i would like to extend my appreciation to those gig organizers and those active in supporting the scene... They are more organized and have come up with many great ideas to entice people to come to their gigs.. I've seen merchandises stalls being set up selling tshirts and cds..

However, it would definitely be better if there could be an understanding and collaboration between gig organizers in the hardcore/punk scene.. in the hope that shows dont become increasingly saturated (eg more than 2-3 gigs in a day).. and tics dont become increasingly ridiculous.. to deter the already minimal supporters that we have in this scene..

Just my two cents worth and something to ponder...

"Break the silence, WAKE THE DEAD
Running through these streets alone
I'll kick and scream, let's break this hold
'Cause I swear, that this won't render useless
I promise you, we've come this far
And I'm not stopping, I'm not stopping now
Enough hiding in shadows
Wake up, send out this message, it's clear" (Wake the Dead - Comeback Kid)

Hey elementree ,

i have the same sentiments !

im 25, it totally reminded of the old victory records and one voice crew days.
And i saw few guys wearing LCHC shirts. man i really thought the old timers are gone, in fact they've been dormant for a long time, probably waiting for a good gig like Hardship fest.

at the end of the gig , some guys were singing "Gotta go " by Agnostic Front. at the instant i knew they were the old timers and i sang along without hesistating . I havent felt a sense a belonging in the hardcore community since 1999.

by the way, theres a bald guy wearing basket jersey, doing superb moshing stuff. Props to you! i think u and the LCHC shirts wearing guys were excellent=)

XelevenX 's set was good, we dont have many(or maybe even none) straight edge bands. It was a really a treat that they came, actually i went to the gig to watch them, and i was proud to raise my Xs ! =)

during their set , i kept shouting "no more" by youth of today . i was hoping that they would pay a tribute the one of the prevalent straightedge bands.
May seem a little selffish becos a band should be given a opportunity to originals.
Sorry if it seem self-centred.

by nevertheless , the gig was excellent.
I love th circle pit = )

heres something for you guys to remember..

For the records by Stretch arm strong

"..The bands would come and we would all sing along
Would they ever know their impact would last so long?

The world is full of lonely places no matter where you're from.
A crowded show, familiar faces make me feel at home.
Many kids have come and gone but I know what kept me here.
The magic of those songs has sustained me through the years.
I heard the word sincerity and I know now what that means
We sweat and sang together and that helped us to carry on. .."
