there's nothing much to reita's punchy tone, he uses ordinary seymour duncan SJB pickups, which would sound like a normal passive bass if anyone plays it. It's just because of his pick technique. I'm trying to learn his technique now, lol.

hmmm.... really? i was thinking he's using an aphex bass xciter... cos he sound's really tight! or is it that he picks in between the bridge pickup n the bridge itself? i dunno la... it's just my two cents :wink:

I was thinking maybe because reita tuned all his strings down 1 step? Lower string tension?

I think it's not that hard to get Reita's tone.

Tetsu's tone with distortion is still a puzzle to perfect for me (Stay Away, etc)
