Fake gibsons are back again.

I would say it is a very good fake. the headstock was the only thing thatgave it away. the pickups even has stickers.

somehow, I want to know how their paper work and hardcase would look like.

i wouldn't consider this a 'back again' occurence, Gibson fakes have been around all the time, this is just another lame resurfacing...

in any case, it's giving S'pore a bad name- look where the item's located. we need to remind ourselves what took place with refrence to the fake Ibanez incident.

The Headstock as mentioned. Look closely at the "Gibson" and the Gibson logo. Compare it with a real one

Hmm.

All I can say is that the only give-away is the headstock. And honestly, it's kind of dumb for some 'luthier' to build this axe with the body etc all pretty much there and then have the headtsock screw up the whoel facade.

A waste of time, really.

And a lack of self-respect.

actually it's really a bad imitation:

1. in the 10th picture, it shows rosewood fretboard. customs have ebony fretboard.
2. seller mentioned Gibson hardcase. the one in the picture is definitely not a gibson case... coz there are combi locks at 2 locations.
3. Gibson DO NOT put gibson stickers on their pickups. those stickers were meant for Epiphones.
4. Custom have 3 ply binding at the back of body. this one is missing.
5. where are the paper works as mentioned? seller will be eager to show in pictures. but not this seller obviously.
6. seller said made in 04. but serial number says made in 03.
7. there is a custom historic chop... but i don't think custom shop serial numbers are like that... (i may be wrong.)
8. like some of you mentioned, the diamond inlay and "Gibson" inlay is really out of shape... truss rod cover is in bad shape. missing fret edge binding.
9. heel is too squarish. Gibson's are rounded.
10. seller mentioned open pickups, but obviously there is pickup covers. seller really doesn't know anything at all...

you can compare side by side with a read gibson at:

hope this helps. cheers!

I jsut reported the item as counterfeit. Hopefully they will remove it. they wouldnt let me give reasons, only item number =(

wow u guys are really good at spotting the fakes..lol hats off to you.

nowadays china makes EVERYTHING eh?..lol

still to me its very hard to spot the diff between a real guitar and a fake.
how did that guy get tht fake guitar? i wonder if there is any guitar shops in sg which sells fake like these

i doubt guitar shop will sell anything fake.. if they do so.. i think that particular shop must have gone out of their mind.. guitar shops does sells cheaper alternative to either the tone or the look though.. haha..
