I voted for both . I am not one who thinks one is superior to the other

Btw what would you guys categorized Melodic Death Metal under ? Extreme or non-extreme ?

That's exactly the question i wanted to ask, before i posted.

but this also does show that the line between extreme and non-extreme metal is sometimes blurred, Melodic Death Metal is one, what about Symphonic Black Metal, who uses progressive stuff etc?

But personally i treat bands regardless of their genre, if i like the band i don't reall care what genre it is in, afterall isn't classification a human construct? to make things easier if we want to identify something?

juz my opinion, may be going out of topic now,lol =\

Well DragonForce is EXTREME power metal. So I guess it's all extreme.

Extreme is anything that is extreme in its own field. If it's power metal, and it's speedier than the rest, then it's extreme. I don't think there's extreme metal, because metal itself is extreme.

Same sentiments as gutturalpiss... It doesn't have to be a certain genre to be considered extreme. But I wouldn't really consider Dragonforce extreme because extreme isn't just the speed but perhaps the lyrics, themes and unusual stuff thrown in (like deathgrunts).
