i believe that the arsernal young players are coming of age finally... i still do not have faith in senderos... he doesnt have the pace to keep up as shown during the first leg... i believed he struggled a bit to keep up against zlatan something something something... i'm waiting for hleb to stop losing the ball and show that he can be a decent winger...

this is a watershed period for AFC... Senderos looked good end of last season but was horrible beginning to mid this season esp against physical and faster pace opponents. I still have fond memories of players like David Oleary, Willy Young, Steve Bould, Martin "break yer legs" Keown and of course capt marvelous Tony Adams... these guys were tall, hard, fast & mean...hopefully the youngsters can learn quickly & live up to the tradition of this great club's defenders.

Arsène Wenger
Wenger - We'll go for a win at Old Trafford
Manchester Utd v Arsenal
Barclays Premiership
Old Trafford
Sun, Apr 9, 2006, 4pm

By Richard Clarke

The Arsenal formation will indicate Arsène Wenger’s ambitions at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The manager has been handsomely rewarded by a flexible 4-5-1 formation in Europe. Occasionally he has used it in the Premiership — Manchester United at home being a case in point. But Wenger wants three points from this teak-tough fixture so he’ll be reverting to a more familiar, attacking line-up.

“We play nearly always in the Premiership with a 4-4-2,” he said. “Sometimes in Europe I change to 4-5-1 or 4-3-3. It depends how I feel about the opposite camp.

“But I believe we will play with two strikers because it is a game we want to win. We are in a position where one point is not good enough and psychologically we are in a different situation [to Europe].”

Wenger doesn’t believe 4-5-1 is the best option domestically anyway.

“I tried it,” he said. “But it didn't work too much because when teams bombard you with long balls, you open the two centre backs a little bit. What works occasionally cannot necessarily be a rule on a day-to-day basis. We have an attacking style, mainly through the centre. Thierry occasionally plays only there but most of the time he moves around and goes wide so you need another striker more central.”

hohohohoho man u 2 - arsenal zerooooooooooooooo.... rooney ran circles around sanderos... huahuahuahuahua.....

haha.. now we should change the thread title to ' man u 2 - arsenal zerooooo: are arsenal good enough?'

eh.. who was the one who said Arsenal will win 3-0??

Could have been 3-0 to Man U only if Ronaldo rounded Lehmann.. :?

ahahah.. Rooney is THE MAN!! Senderos who? Eboue who? :P

and from the looks of things.. Looks like Arsenal gonna have a hard time against Villareal.. since their back 4 can't seem to defend against high balls or crosses very well :P

Seriously Arsenal weren't very interested in the match, but Rooney was magnificent.

I think Arsenal are more interested in winning CL and giving Spurs the ultimate insult. :P

Kudos 2 Man U...unlike previous seasons where they relied on dirty, dispicable roughhouse or underhanded tactics to win vs Arsenal, last night they took their chances and won fair & square. Real exciting game too doe Im dissapointed at the result of course.

Congrats Azlan.... hah 2b bad U didnt bet with me huh?

THor666 - abt the CL ...hmmm U just may be rite.....

Nest stop Fratton Park vs the Pompey!

funny u should be saying, because Arsenal also did "dirty, dispicable roughhouse or underhanded tactics".

not that anything is fair in soccer in general nowadays. u can see jose mourinho holding the ball and refusing to return it when he was at porto. there are just very few Di Canios nowadays.

yes, Man utd won, Kudos to them...they deserved it.

as i've said earlier, Fatigue will play a part and this result does not shock me at all...

Man utds tactics after the break was spot on, So i guess I shan't take anything away from them.

Tll Next Season. :D

2006/2007 Table standings
