SOFTIES MATCH REPORT - Junior Vs Senior Softies - 4 Feb 2007
First & foremost thanks to all the softies who came down (albeit late) for this hopefully soon to be "regular feature".... great fun was had by all in a friendly, no pressure kick about atmosphere...
Bloody funny way to start proceedings apart from the "feared" no show of member was that Cruxgod (who was supposed to bring the ball) didnt show - last minute he smsed me that a familoy mameber had a fall & was hospitalised... so we had to T-loan a ball from a bunch of guys also having a kick about there... luckily later kumar showed up with 2 balls....
It was a fairly even match with both sides on he attack... both the seniors & juniors put in a determined yet 'friendly and non over the top" frame to the game. The juniors took the lead, early on ... cant say who scored cause I was at the other end... Seniors equalised ( also didnt know his nick coz so many to remember :roll: . Juniors took a "hotly contested lead" later on (ball at first was junged to be too high but later granted as a goal anyway - hey it's a friendly). The seniors then equalised for a half time score of 2-2.
After the interval, about four member of the junior team decided to call it quits so the softies accepted the challenge of the "homeboys" there - a rather fit looking, muscular, expirienced bunch of dudes. To add to this delima, Jimmyplays drums then later Purplehaze had to limp off with minor injuries (or fatigue?)
John_D, fgl & kumar as defenders held them at bay for most of the game with Mani, Farid, imcorn & some Russian dude who decided to join us while crozzfire and smokiebear ran rings around their bigger, more expirienced opponents up front.
Through a defensive mistake, the softies team were left exposed an fgl was left in a 2-1 situation .... homeboys scored...
The homeboys proceeded to attack in waves with John_D, fgl & kumar repelling wave after wave... many of their shots hitting the woodwork (cones) or too high (with claims of "goal of course") The softies equalised after great work from smokybear & crozzfire.
Homeboys scored again later after a lightninig raid and a speculartive shot that had both fgl & John_D beaten...
ntre forward & narrowly missed The softies then went on an all out attack, fgl moved up to centre forward & narrowly missed getting the equaliser late in the game. Final score ...2-1 to the homeboys...
A great time was had by all & desoite the obvious age, fitness and skill levels, all softy particpants throughly enjoyed themselves...Kudos to the homeboy challenges who excercised fairplay in the 2nd match.
The rest of the sodftings including John _D, Jimmyplays drums, Smokybear, Mani, prurplehaze, farid & fgl then proceeded for prata & drinks at the nearby bencoolen street sarabat shop for post match comments & general talk cock session...yeah Jimmyplaysdrums that bicycle story was kinda funny ...but no worries, I will pass U some pro drummers ctc no.s you can take lessons from... Would have been nice if more softies could have joined us for post game supper but then I guess many ppl wanted to watch the SG-Thailand match....
