Epiphone les pauls (please give comments thank you..)

Yea, sub...I'm not selling off. I can't with the amount of stickies it's got anyway, haha...

Hmm.

threadstarter - kindly bear in mind that Epiphones (especially those with opaque finishes) may not have the expected mahogany wood that their bigger brothers Gibson utilise. There have been stories of alder or even plywood being used  That is unless you can see the wood grain for yourself, and that does not even count for the 'flame tops' which are just laminates.

There are plenty of such threads regarding Epi LPs on Soft, maybe you'd like to search more, and hopefully you will get the info you need so as to be able to make a decision.

But my take is that maybe it would be wiser to purchase an already good-sounding, well-set up instrument and spend more time playing guitar than worrying about your next pickup / hardware upgrade.

hope this helps.

Dude, Do yourself a favour and save a little more for a normal Epiphone LP not the jr then add some Deymour duncans or DiMarzio pu's. If $$ is an issue, buy the Epi 2nd hand. This set up will last you longer than the Jr and has a lot more tonal attributes.
An even better option is to look at Edwards LP's. They are awsome!

Been playing 20 years, I have 3 Gibsons and the Edwards is far superior to any of them

'superior' is subjective. to me, Edwards addresses the refinements required to make the Gibson version more likeable/ preferable.

hmm the only thing i see about the edwards thats different is the neck carve and that is also subjective.

hey subversion, whats that guitar in the post you made on page 1? (sorry can't quote your reply) looks interesting :D

that's the new PRS SE One, single p-90 equipped singlecut. i'm trying to convince certain parties to make it available here. it's a definite purchase for me..

I say dump Epis and get Japanese copies instead. Ppl may flame me for this but i think Epiphones do not replicate a Gibson-esque tone well enough. I've compared an Epi LP Ultra side-by-side with a similar Edwards LP and I can safely say the Edwards is better, and i think it's worth the price difference. Just my 2 cents worth. If u want a P-90 equipped guitar, might as well invest in the Edwards that sub posted. Real sweet axe. Alternatively, look for another Jap copy with the same config.

Sub, that one pickup p90 PRS is it available in singapore? if yes, how much u think it would cost?? thinking of getting 1 PRS SE guitar(budget lah)...

It's different, not better (duh). You did say Epi LP Ultra which has a chambered body and Edwards with no holes in its body. No doubt that there'll be a tonal difference.

Well yeah i guess. It's up to personal preference too. That's why i bought the Edwards in the end. I wld recommend the Ultra if u are looking 4 a sound ala LP but with some variations. The Edwards actually sounds more like a typical Gibson LP.

i'm sure you all know gibson les pauls also have holes in them too right?
they all have weight relief holes drilled in them, about 9 in total.
