Dear Enthusiasts,
Below are the details of my lovely mint Epiphone Les Paul Custom Ace Frehley Signature which I unfortunately have to sell to make way for a new purchase
a) Authenticated by Gibson USA as a GENUINE Made in Korea Limited Edition Model
b) Serial Number: UO6081968
c) Cherry Sunburst Flame Maple Cap
d) Original Dimarzio Super Distortion Humbuckers (x3)
e) Tonepros Bridge (chrome)
f) Grover Machineheads with Tulip Knobs (chrome)
g) Lightning bolt inlays with Ace Frehley signature on the 12th fret
h) Ace Frehley Painted face on headstock (slight blemish on Ace's lips - from factory)
I) Padded gig bag (purchased separately)
Since I purchased the guitar I have done some fairly extensive work to make it a proper player's guitar. Purchased from Swee Lee about 2 years ago, it was not properly set up and the original synthetic plastic nut was horrid (strings did not sit properly on nut).
Step ONE: I had the nut replaced immediately with a proper synthetic bone replacement by TUSQ and immediately things improved.
Step TWO: I had the original weak tone pots replaced with some tasty Jensen caps and this immediately gave the guitar a much needed tonal boost.
Step ONE and TWO were done by Derek of Ebenex and his workmanship was great!!
Step THREE: The Dimarzio Super Distortion sounds great as a bridge pickup, but as a neck pickup, its overwound, way too hot and as a result, is mushy. I decided to have the neck pickup replaced with a lower output humbucker with sweet warmth and a more rounded sound. I had a Seymour Duncan '59 installed and it made a BIG difference. I have the original pickup in a box in case it needs to be swapped in again. I doubt anyone would want to do that though because she sounds great now!
Step FOUR: Next, I had the pickups recalibrated so that the hotness of the Dimarzio does not clash with the warmth of the Seymour Duncan. I had the middle pickup disconnected. Why? Because Ace NEVER used it (the centre cavity in his guitar housed the pyro works) and besides, when the toggle is set in the middle, you now get both the bridge and the neck pickup working in tandem. One can also do the 'stutter' toggle effect (something not possible with the middle pickup engaged).
Step THREE and FOUR were done by Guitar Looper Whiz Randolf Arriola and his work needs no introduction.
I paid over S$1.2k for the guitar 2 years ago and spent at LEAST another $600.00 fixing her up. I hardly play her hence the mint near unused condition. I am a bedroom player so this baby sits in air-conditioned comfort all the time.
I am looking for a good home for her and am asking for a reasonable S$800.00 or best offer. Lesser examples of the same guitar are exchanging hands for between US$600.00 to US$800.00 and it continues to appreciate given that the most recent Ace Frehley special, the Budokan, did NOT have any of the fancy livery because of copyright reasons (KISS own the rights to the Spaceman look!) - this is the LAST Ace Frehley Spaceman model!!
Interested parties please whatsapp or message me at 91797088 your email address and I will email you pictures (sorry I don't know how to attach pictures using the URL)
Serious enquiries only please. Thanks and have a great weekend!!
Best Regards
Sean
