Epiphone amps- love/ hate

Ooooh cool. Flirting wif da Idea fo an Extension cab for my Ceriatone which currently using 1X12 Vintage 30. But nt so soon hehe. Just looking at the options. From the clips at Eminence I seem to like "The Wizard".

please confirm with swee lee if this is indeed their practice.

Well may i point out that as sole distributor, it is up to their discretion to price the product as they wish? Hence, they would not (not that any retailer would) admit that their products are overpriced. It is only up to us, as consumers to judge by comparing with prices elsewhere that it is indeed the case. Sadly, being a monopoly in the singapore market only means that swee lee has the ability to place exorbitant premiums over these goods and get away with it without the usual repercussions it ought to suffer in a true free-market.

However, i do understand it is your job to remain diplomatic ;)

i had a valve junior modded plus speaker change to weber, changed tubes AND bought a attenunator all for under $450 bucks. People who are interested in the valve junior and wants it modded should consider costs before buying from our local retail stores. Smtimes, it's really so much cheaper purchasing online or overseas.

As for the sound of the amp, you can heard the potential on it unmodded, with the mods, its a very very gd amp, seems to go better with single coils. Do not let the made in china tag out you off. Sold mine off though a while back - too many amps....

sub: probably not :) i think the stock amp has some good tones in it.

however, don't everybody loves aftermarket products? i think the reason for modding vjr is the fact that it's easy and newbie friendly to get it done. (oh.. not to forget the improvement in tone).

in addition, just like one is more likely to tear open a TGM strat to repaint, rewire blah blah, while keep his precious grestch white falcon safely in the case. same happens to vjr, a project amp if you like =)

my two cents =)

like sub i like most of my stuff stock. UNLESS the mods really good and i hear the epiphone mods can really help so it would be interesting hehe.

seems like its alot cheaper to get it overseas - is it difficult to transport this amp though? I'm heading to hk, hopefully tom lee will have the amp - but bringing it back poses a challenge... Is it advisable?

am i the very few here who believe that the Valve Jr's unmodded performance is quite stellar?

On itself at that price its gd, just not good enough (not in a bad way), after the mods it felt even better than my Laney LC15R, with the tubes change it was way more melodic, so if the amp mods suits you, i say go for it.

And i think i heard a guy hand carrying it up a plane a while back if i am not wrong for those that are interested in buying from overseas.

hmm is this amp good for getting bluesy tunes but yet able to do rock?
thinking of getting it, but whether combo or head is a question. and mods cost how much more?
