im planning to change my turners, but its seems that my turner peg holes are too small to fit in my new turners, any advice on if i can diy like filing to make the hole bigger?? thnx :D

Hmm.

The best way forward i ot ue a dill bit instead of a file bcause a drill bit would give you a perfect hole. That is if you use a proper bench drill and clamp the hedstock properly.

Drilling it might be slightly tricky, but most importantly you must use the right drill bit size so as to avoid your tuning post from shifting about, thereby causing tuning instability.

use the auto reamers - safer unless you are proficient with a drill bit.

Size should be standard 10" rad for most aftermarkert diecast tuners.

Normally only need to enlarge the hole halfway through from the rear of the headstock, the screw posts that fits from the top normally fits snugly fitout dowelling.

Lastly, ensure your new tuners are IN LINE when screwing in the securing screws

fyi...

drill bits for metal won't do it. It'll make a real mess. Take fgl's advice. Get a reamer. Most hardware stores which sell wood working tools would have them.

kaycee, heh heh... i used em HSS bits when I installed the tuners. ok lah, they're a bit blunt though so can go ssssslllloooowwww.....

a rat tail file will do fine for enlargement of <2mm... anything more, use a drill bit attached to a drill but turn carefully by hand

first day know me ah... but then... it takes an equally or maybe slightly lesser dirty bugger to have interpreted that.

thx n gd lux.
