EMU 0404USB Bricked

My EMU 0404 USB suddenly bricked overnight, with the power on LED lighting up only and nothing else. Wonder did anyone else ever experience this problem? This interface has served me for almost 3 good long years, very sad to see it go.

Apparently there have been people experiencing this and there is a jumper solution which I have not tried yet. Just want to know whether anyone had similar issues before and know some fix before I try the jumper thing since I honestly don't know how to do it properly.

Another question is assuming the EMU is really dead, since I'm recording strictly using 1/4" mic and guitar input only one at a time, would it be good for me to get a Line6 HD500 to direct record via USB, since I'm in the market for a good amp sim and effects as well, instead of getting another USB interface?
 
Yea im using it as a paper weight right now, sadly cant bring back cos its bought in US. Anyway 3 years is a good run, prob shoot for the HD500. the recording sounds fantastic!

even if it's bought in the US, maybe you can look for a local dealer and enquire? I mean it's authentic, not some china copy check repair prices
 
My recordings are in my sig! They are on soft as well haha, although I have a very slow pace of song writing so I seldom post.

There was no local dealer for the EMU, when I tried to approach Creative 3 years ago they say they ended its run in Singapore, hence I bought from US. I dunno whether the situation is the same now though.
 
ahh alright cool , I heard some samples, there isn't bass in there? just vocals/guitars and drums?

yeah the emu situation sounds bad, you might as well go down to citymusic and try out the pod hd500. you might like it heheh
 
There's bass but its a more of a double bass drone in the background.

Ive tried the HD500 before and i find it extremely responsive to the guitar considering its digital, prob gonna get it for CNY!
 
ah alright probably it's just my iphone earphones then.

yeah man the HD500 looks real good some of the sounds from it are great too but i'm more of a mic the amp person hehe

I want an Emu0404USB but both Creative at IBP and Marina Sq said they don't carry Emu products anymore. Checked with Amazon but they don't ship it to Singapore. Anyone knows where can I get it?
 
Yep its already not carried in Singapore more than 3 years ago when I bought it. I had to get my friend to buy it in US and bring it over for me. The shipping is not worth it because the box is damn huge, adds extra cost for no good reason. Probably best to get some other stuff that are available in SG.
 
I need an audio i/f but there are not many to choose from in Singapore. I had asked a friend to find it in US but the Guitar Center he went to did not have stock available.

I want something with similar specs as the 0404, I know that the Tascam 144 is available but there are sound quality issues from what I read from the internet. Are there other choices which are also available in Singapore?
 
You gotta try Musician's Friend. I bought from either there or Zzzounds cant recall. Right now I'm buying the POD HD500 cos its more useful to me.
