Emotionless shredding

Well.. You got the speed.. Very impressive for 1 year and 7 months of playing.. I've been playing for 3 years and I know for a fact I ain't that fast.. Gotta work on the precision of your fast playing though.. I can't tell if your technique comes off correct since the guitar volume is too similar to the background music volume.. Your sweeps seem a lil off though..

Besides that, your bends need some improvement.. Kinda not hitting the correct notes.. And the phrasing is important (choosing the correct notes in the scale that goes well with the rhythm at a particular instant).. Plus transition into other scales.. It is best to drift off into a weird sounding scales for a brief moment, before going into another scale so that it doesn't sound too off..

Woaaahhh, hold your horses there you speed demon.
Hahahaa ...

Yeah, you surely have speed but the notes you chose on some parts, and the barely make it bends are just painful to hear.
But still you can run rings around me with your speed. LOL
Rock on!!!
\m/

Thanks for the comments guys, yes, shit my bends are horrendously bad. It's always a little sharp, needs practice.

godspeed64: sharp ears there, my sweeps DEFINITELY off. Narrower neck than my jackson, my fingers are missing the strings.

u sure dont have a problem playing fast, but u sure do have a problem playing slow, esp at that so called arabic section. kinda like u were bushwhacking the notes, no offence.

wanna do arab try taking the a natural minor scale which is made up of:

A B C D E F G A and turning it into a sort 'pentatonic' but not with the normal

A C D E G back to A

but try this instead

A B C E F back to A

or even

A Bb C# D E F G A or something like that. dont have my guitar with me now so this might be wrong.

ah yea i hit quite a few wrong notes on the arabic part. appreciate the comments yea. No offence taken, constructive criticism is always good (as long as there are no hostile intentions). I'll keep what you said in mind. Nobody learns anything without criticism.

umm, practice like hell. I gave up my social life ever since i started guitar, everyday after school head home and practice, add in homework and studying, no time for a social life anymore. Most of it anyway, and a really helpful friend - blewraincoat on soft.

i dont really like metal.
or really mindless fast guitar playing for that matter, but this was good.
and the arabic thingy wasnt bad (:

Gave up your social life? Woahh..
Learning guitar opened up a whole new dimension in my social life!
But the speed at which you can go, in less than 2 years, is seriously impressive..
Just give it more time, and practice those things you know you need to improve on..

Well.. I started playing the guitar to play metal.. Tried to play blues, and hell I'm playing it till now! Should try to expand your genres.. Blues make my bends killer, and my solo phrasing as well.. Classic rock makes my riffs more catchy.. Alternative rock makes me creative (I consider Muse, Incubus, RATM in this) and think out of the box..

I'm gonna try prog rock/alt rock/alt metal after my A levels, thats when I have the time to handle 2 bends, if anyone has that sorta band that needs a shredder, gimme a holler! Post mid november only though :D Hopefully a prog rock will help my phrasing.

Wow.. Same here.. A levels soon also.. Must stop playing the Blues!
Haha.. I really wanna play Neo Classical Metal man.. Wonder what scales they use to get that sound..

=Godspeed

They use the harmonic minor scale, coupled with phrasing, a good piece for you to start your neoclassical journey would be the Presto movement of summer by Vivaldi. Don't need to learn it, just need to listen to it and understand how it was phrased.

wow , hydrofly .
only a year and 7 mths and u are so good already?!
dam i've been playing close to 4 years and barely u're standard.
btw u should crank u're amp up alil louder ;)

that was great. you've definitely got the speed down pat though you can improve on hitting the notes cleanly at some parts. and yes some bends sound real off, got to work on that ha. otherwise great job, this thread makes me sad

Hey dude looks like you've been busy since the last SOFT jam! great to see your true potential finally being manifested here.... you've definitely got the speed and chops down! great stuff heh.

only thing maybe is the dynamics, maybe you wanna try expanding on that. try bends larger than a step. try different kinds of vibrato.

other than that, great playing :D

woah.. 1 years 7 months to get tt speed!.. tts freaking fast.. i play guitar longer than for like 2months and im only like nt even 1/2 ur skills.. hahah.. anyway good skills n speed !:-D
