hi all..wats the main diff btw those two? sound clearity? which is better? notice most esp guitars comes with emgs

man how u define normal pickups? how u expect ppl to compare EMGz to something u dont define properly? u mean EMGz are abnormal pickups?

just some advice to rephrase ur question so u can get some answers

cut him some slack.hahah

when u say normal pickups,u mean stock pickups i hope..haha..ya do rephrase ur question

IMO,from what i've heard from my frens who use emgs.the sound is extremely aggressive.try listenin to zakk wylde guitar videos or works.he uses emgs.atreyu guitarist also.just a few to name.

clarity wise, emgs don do the best clean.

i hope thie answers some of ur doubts or question.

IMO,di marzio i used my quite alot of shredders.Steve vai,joe satriani, malmsteen to name a few.

EMGS,DI Marzio,Seymour Duncans are probably the best few pickups right now available in the market

if you're talking bout clarity... with the same amount of gain, lets say everything is on 10 :D i can pretty much assure you that when u play a barre chord on an emg, it will definitely have more clarity than a passive pickup. as in, you can hear each note of the chord clearly on the emg, even though the gain is really high. thats one of the perks of active.
now, dont you ppl start saying that emgs are sterile... thats not wat he's askin here leh

Ahem.

When you say EMG, I think you're trying to say, ACTIVE pickups.

When you say NORMAL, I think you're trying to say, PASSIVE pickups.

So I'm assuming your question is "What's the difference between active and passive pickups."

Because EMG is not the only maker of active pickups, and EMG themselves actually have passive pickups too.

Unless you're asking about the brand, which is kind of like asking what's the difference between Adidas and all other shoes and which is better.

Active pickups run on batteries and are said to be quieter and give more clarity. Some also say they are more sterile.

Passive pickups are the opposite.

active pickups has a preferred tone for high gain/ distortion but not exclusively. there are equally adept passive units to give them a run for their worth.

between active/ passive, i personally prefer the latter- lets your guitar's inherent tone through more readily...

on the other hand...slapping an emg in a shit vester guitar and you'll get a passable decent tone..cant really say the same with passives.

yes- passives need a good default body acoustics to make your guitar sing. the actives have 'a life of their own' hence they sound more acceptable in virtually any guitars... less this one:
