Tsk. Waste time sia. Haha, nvm at least fgl and I had a fun talking about vaginal cleansing products, I mean pickups.

hmm 2nd thread on EMGs in as many weeks :P

i recently replaced the 85 in my LP neck with the new 60A, yea the one with alnicos.
81 is still in the bridge.

daryl, take that claim with a pinch of salt.

The warpig is HEAVILY overwound, I wouldn't expect "sweet, chimey" cleans from it... though, the cleans are not as "sterile" as EMGs.

HEY REMY, ONCE U GET YOUR 60 AND 81 EMG PICKUPS PLS HOOK ME UP ON MSN OR SOMETHING AND LET ME HEAR HOW THEY SOUND ON YOUR RG, AITE?

i'll be waiting!

Don hesitate get it tone is absoloutely subjective

I have a 93 rg470 with emg 81/85 and a emg sv in the middle

And i absoloutely love the tone

i even have both 81 on my ltd explorer...they sound like "umph umph umph" when palm muted with mt-2 full blast...however,i want to trade one of the 81 with an 85 cos wanna hear the sound diff...anyone...? :D

Im also having alittle pickup issues.
I have a JB and Jazz combo loaded in my PRS Billy Martin SE model guitar. It is a lightweight 22-fret guitar and sounds very thin with the JB - no balls or strong mid presence. Its kinda screechy. That kind of thinny sound.

Is this because of the lighweight characteristic of the wood and JB combination??
Would active EMGs compliment the lightwieght contruction of my guitar?
Would it be wise to convert to EMG in order to get a more noticeable, aggressive grinding sound for high-gain rock tones?

Suggestions?

the JB doesnt have that much of a low end, goes well with Les Pauls due to the big mahogany body.

Im not sure what your body is made of you might wanna try a custom custom or a custom 5 for that.

Another thing to note that Seymour Duncan himself recommends that u use 250k pots with a JB to tame the highs a tad, you might wanna try that but i tink u hav a master vol and a master tone so that might cause a tad of a prob with ur neck pup.

on a guitar wit a passive pickup configuration how u put on active pups?doesnt cuttin a new cavity weaken the whole thin?like lets say i wanna use emgs on an epiphone gothic and korina explorer will it hold up?who do u usually send to to cut the cavitys and wad is the price like?

what you mean cavity?

if you meant a compartment for the batteries, you can just use the control compartment if there's space, no need to route for a new cavity.

i mean like lets say ur guitar comes wit only 2 pots and the emgs come wit 4?and if there is no space in the compartment cos the epi explorer one very small?who do u usually send the guitar to?
