EMG 81 + SD Blackout Neck

Has anyone tried this combo before? I like the 81 distortion more, but the blackout neck has better clean sound. I was also considering the EMG 60 but never mind that. I read that there will be problems if you use an active pickup with a passive... is this true?

The EMG 60 is not a passive pickup :S Also, it's possible to run a passive with an active, it just requires much routing and work, and just isn't worth the trouble or money.

? Aren't both the EMG81 and SD Blackout active pickups? My ESP came with EMG81s and I swapped both pickups out to SD Blackouts.. They were active alright..

hey, am i right to say that both EMGs and Blackouts use the same quick connector thing? the one where you do not need to resolder to swap pickups?

I don't remember saying that lol. I asked about the passive pickups, cos if it were cost effective, I'd rather have the neck passive cos you can get more nicer clean tone compared to active pickups. Does davis sell the blackouts separately? I just want the neck lol.
