Hi drummers,

Was jus wondering if anyone has tried the ELKA-DESFION e-drums?

Did a search here and no mentioned of this drum set in here. My 10 yr old son is a beginner and I was wondering if that is a good set of drums to start with? It comes with 8 pieces and even w a high hat and pedal bass drum like the Yamaha DTX.

Would really appreciate some feedback from you pros out there.

Many thanks,

THG

hi there, no a pro but i will help as much as i can with this..

did a brief google search the drums look similar to yamaha's DTX, except that the tom pads seems thicker and the snare pad seems to be at least 3 zones/a mesh head. THe specs didnt really go into details on the pads.. which i think is quite important since the feel of the pads determine a big part of the playing..

If its rubber, it will be almost similar to the DTX.

If its a mesh head, it will feel more similar to an acoustic drum, thought it will never be the same, but it has a more realistic rebound than rubber pads.

Lastly maybe u need to compare the drum module of DTX and that (if u are deciding between these 2, or anyother drum u are comparing with) since the drum module is the brain of the whole drumset, determines what kind of sound u will get (how realistc, variations) and also other helpful functions like metronome, play along tracks etc.

Hope it helped =)

Hi Kazuki,

Thank you for the reply.

I am going to try the drums at the ELKA school.

It looks fairly decent for a beginner.

Will update the thread once I've tried it.

Cheers,

THG

Actually from the pictures, it looks like a rebranded Medeli DD501, which if it is, it's way too expensive at $890.

Get the DD502 from ranking, at $690 only.
