Eliminating Ground Loop Hum

Hi guys, I bought a Nova System recently and I must say it's really awesome! At home I use it through the efx loop of my Laney Ironheart but will probably utilise the drives if I'm taking it out to a studio.
However, I have one issue with using it at home: When I connect it to the efx loop of my amp, there's this super annoying ground loop hum and I can't seem to get rid of it!
I've tried adjusting the levels, connecting the amp's power plug and the Nova's to the same point, cutting the shield off from the cable etc. But they all don't seem to work.
Help me enjoy my NS without the hum!!

Wow bro u are gonna bring that into NS? Hahah if its bmt i dont think its gonna be so easy man, when i was a recruit even charging handphone they also only restrict us to one power socket per bunk to reduce electricity cost etc. I think you will be better off with a pocket pod or something like tt lol

I think i saw your problem on someones blog somewhere before, its a problem with the power transformer i think. Lemme see if i can dig up that article

ok i found it http://www.tonymckenzie.com/tc_g_system_review.htm this one is for the g system but i suspect it could be the same issue, read up on the section when he talks about the downsides of the units, dun worry its mainly for the hum. He purchased an isolation box to solve the problem, with mini transformers inside to eleminate ground loop, wonder if that will work for you

NS stands for nova system bro! Hehe. Read your article but there wasn't enough details, so I dropped the guy a message regarding how he solved it. Thanks for the tip!

LOLOL icic my bad. No worries, i think isolation transformers are commonly deployed in switcher boxes when it is absolutely critical not to let the amps form a ground loop, in your case the hum is most probably due to the ground loop formed due to the amp and the nova system, so by using an isolation transformer you can effectively "lift" the ground loop up.

http://www.radialeng.com/di-twiniso.htm something like this
I think can prob find cheaper ones in audio/electronic shops in singapore

This guy runs the G-System off a Voodoolab PP2+.. depending on what the current draw is for the nova system. Maybe one of the pedal isolated power supplies might work? =)

The Nova system uses the same type of cable you use with computers and amps, so prolly can't use it with a PSU.

Anyway, the guy from the link you gave me used this to get rid of the hum: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/HD400.aspx

Anyone knows where I can get it?

That's weird that your're experiencing hum with the nova alone. I'm running the NS in the loop with pedals into the front and it's dead quiet man... Hope you get it resolved.

Btw I power all including the NS via a PP2+ since its got a courtesy output. Super useful.

PP2+ eh, but the problem is that I don't need that many outputs since I'm running the NS on it's own in the loop.
