where do you guys get the electronic parts?

im looking for parts like a long shaft push pull pot , hovland/orange drop caps, CTS audio taper. etc

its for a les paul.


my jb/59 has got unsmooth highs which sounded crackly on distortion, but normal on cleans.

could it be the vol pot/ caps/ tone pot?

or the fret buzz that caused this? the buzz isnt terrible , its the same as the other axe im holding which doesnt have this problem.

I don't think anyone manufactures long shaft push pulls. The hovlands are audiophile quality capacitors and are certainly an overkill in a guitar circuit. You probably won't hear a difference in sound quality, but the 'roll-off' effect of the tone knob will probably be more subtle when compared to other types of capacitors.

if u're talking about crackling when turning the tone/vol knob, it means that ur pot is dirty and needs cleaning... Clean with WD40 i think... not too sure. u can google online about it.

if u're saying the tone/vol sounds uneven when turned up, it's probably because it's a linear pot instead of a audio(log) pot. i have a guitar that's like that... intending to change it.

its 500kA so i think its log?
ive only changed the vol pot

could it be the tone pot or the caps?

yea the sound is unsmooth when its all the way up and running.

and its only smooth when i turn the tone knob all the way down to 0

yep the A ones are log.

i have no idea what u mean by unsmooth thou... if u have a similar axe to this one u could reference the tone pot/caps to compare. there is a chance that u just prefer one axe over another more.

for me i do prefer my fender controls much more to my washburn. think my washburn's pots are linear... very hard to dial in tones. that's why thinking of changing them.

I haven't got the chance to drop by the shop yet. Will get it there by end of this week!

i realised its caused by fret buzzing
esp on the 12th fret.
could it be neck tension?


high gain just makes it more prominent

edder - no probs. i hadn't really had the time to hit the west side too.. not hurry.

hydesg - it seems maybe your action is too low for the affected strings. if u can setup ur guitar then just raise the action bit by bit until u get a compromise. u can send ur guitar to a luthier to set up for u if u're unable to set up the guitar.

in fact its somehow kinda high

is it possible for les pauls to have action like ibanezs?
