Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man

not sure how much it will cost, but a call to them might make it clearer

In term of the analog delay, dmm is one of the affordable and decent sounding one. The chorus and the vibrato in it add a nice touch to the delay effect. The oscillation from is easily manipulate for experimental moment and sounding good.

I'm seriously considering it. There is also the recent Keeley DD3 mod which I've heard very nice sound clips.

DMM is really a pretty happening analog delay, but you have to dig the analog delay sound to like it first. it really depends on your needs and your usage, if you need "hard" repeats like the BOSS DD series, then you're better off with a DD, or even better, a digidelay *heh*. i think a good way to help us understand what you want to use this delay for is to tell us what style of music you play and what kind of delay sound you're looking for?

btw edge may have a DMM somewhere on his massive setup, but his main delay is a series of rackmount delays... not sure what band, i think they're korgs or sthg. my memory (man) fails me... :p i'm sure i saw a DM4 on his rack as well... on the slane castle DVD that is, not live.

I'm using it more for a U2 kind of sound. I'm not really keen on the DM4, though I might get multiple delays.

maybe u can check-out the Boss dd-20 twin-pedal. i dunno the actual price, but swee lee have 40% for their Boss products always. and the good thing is, u can programme/preset 5 delay sounds. its got the tape and analog delay sounds too...

imho, any delay can get the rhythmic feel of the edge, digital or analog. It's more on the time setting and picking pattern....

very true, although in terms of sound, digital delays come closer to the edge style of delay repeats. plus the harder repeats of digital delays help you to 'kena' the dotted eighth pattern more accurately.

i really strongly recommend the digitech digidelay :D

i own a memory man deluxe pedal, though i do not use it as a delay unit.. more like an echo unit to get the rockabilly slap back or slight echo for clean jazz tones and country stuff. it has a limited delay time of 550ms which is not very much. depends on what you want to do with it.

the MMD does colour your tone slightly and it's more echoey than precise delay repeats.. very analogue delay tone.. more like the 50s 60s studio echos than today's machine like delay repeat tones.

it's pretty easy to use and the chorus does give a nice touch. the vibrato is practically useless in my eyes.. just a slight warble.. enough to irritate but not enough to make you seasick...

from what i heard, the sound is varies from pedal to pedal.. don't know.. never got the chance to test out different ones. but i would suggest that you try before you buy.

if you are after the early edge tone.. i heard he used 2 of these babies linked up to get his sound... but i reckon you might be better off with a digital unit

The DM4 is a distortion stompbox... I think you are looking at the DL4...

not that no much has experience, it's just a delay pedal afterall and to talk so much about how it is, might as well try out the thing and get a better idea....

the more you try, the less you will ever want to talk about effect in words anymore, imho....

Yup typo.. Hehe.. Seems like not a lot of people has experience with them here in SG.

I think you might have posted in the wrong forum with regards on asking how a delay pedal sounds.

Then again, brundisium's suggestion is da best...

DMM or the DL4? I don't keep stock for DMM and its per order basis but if you want to, I can leave my personal unit at WMUM and you can check it out there as long as you want. Just that you can't bring it home....

DL4... you can check it out anytime at City Music.

Just an update. Decided to get the new Keeley DD3 after hearing the clips from some forumite and taking DMM's size into issue.
