electric guitar for about 700bucks

600plus but not sure where is it made in. Just drop by Davis to ask them. It will be cheaper than Swee Lee confirm.

this is a rookie corner and IF you are a rookie,i dont suggest you get an expensive guitar unless you are ready for the commitment. What if you suddenly loose intrest than gave up...It would be a waste.

can be pretty sure i wont lose interest. i would rather get one that i can use for a long while than to buy and resell then buy and resell like my acoustics.

i have a contrary advice. rookie or regardless, if you can acquire mid-priced gear & anything dearer, go ahead. just because one is starting out, must one restrict one's acquisitions?

hey peter01, i got my Fender strat (Japan) from Davis at $850 with vintage US pups and i'm using it as my main axe nightly at the club, solid twang as always (check out it's sound on my purevolume site below)...think there's a $650 Japan strat as well as mentioned by FPaulLes if i'm not mistaken

my 1st axe as a rookie back in stone-age 1989 was a Xanax (weird brand, also from Davis, haha) that costs me $198 only...i still remember that humble beginning, got my 1st pay check, called Davis at 6.30pm when they say they're closing at 7pm and i actually asked them not to close and wait for me (seriously dude)...arrived at 7.15pm and he really waited, nice chap, great service...after that i bought my next 4 or 5 axes from him as well in a couple of years (Vantages & Hamer costing betwn $300-$600)

...and i'm proud to say that the weird cheapo Xanax has taught me a lot a lot...and sorry for my long grandpa story...haha

if you are set on buying a Jap Fender, the cost is dependent on the pickups in the guitar. here's a ranking in terms of price:

*in-house pickups (cheapest)
*US Vintage
*Texas Special
*Lace Sensors
*DiMarzio

i own the ST-72 & it's one of the best in my arsenal, have kept it mod-free 8)

Agreed with sub...u can get the fender jap strat frm there at around $600. Or.........get a cheap but gd sounding guitar(timbre comes to mind) and get a gd amp and 1, maybe 2 pedals. Keep ur options open. As 4 the midrange gear thing....i started with an Ibanez RGT42DX.........so i quite agree.

and if anyone tells you not to buy an expensive guitar to start with , they're just jealous cause they couldnt afford one when they started , haha losers

Try out the jap fenders at guitar77.. survey on it first..
some MIM fenders in swee lee are also around that price range..
perhaps can scout around some second hand ones..
and not to forget, 60th anniversary strats at swee lee..
dont know if they still have it, but it would be well within your budget..

PS: some people are just too obssessed with US fenders and Gibsons from their posts..
its quite irritating.. cause u can never underestimate a jap fender..
quality wise and playability are top notch..
