Hey.... if you guys don't mind, why not share with everyone, what are your effects setup during gigs or what you guys think is the ultimate effects setup.... :)

i'll test direct lug in first...if i can survive without digital distortion i leave it...if sound cmi i plug my pod. so far most gigs i did i brought my pod for nothing...i prefer neat natural distortion haha

The ultimate setup is the one which allows the person playing, to play the genre he/she is into.

Too many gadgets or straight to amp doesn't matter as long as everyone is happy playing with what they have and knowing what they want in their tone. No right or wrong, must or should not be...

imho

This is a pic of my setup...

Its goes from guitar --> Randolfed CS-3 (not in pic) --> Morley Bad Horsie Wah 2 --> Randolf TS9DX --> Tech21 TRI AC --> Demeter Mid Boost --> Ibanez DE-7 --> PA or Amp or Speakers

I'm not a chorus/flange/phaser kind of person... I prefer a "normal" tone.... the tri ac is set to clean, crunch and heavy... together with the TS9DX I got 6 sounds at my feet and with the option of solo boost for all. Pretty happy with it so far! :)

Hey, Shredcow

In your opinion, would it make much difference if you were to put the compressor/sustainere at the end of the chain instead of the beginning? Putting at the begiing means a compressed signal is filtered thru the maze of other effects, whereas put it at the end, the whole bunch of filtered signal will be squeezed thru the comp. Will you be able to hear the difference?

Just for laughs....

Guitar-Maxon Flanger-modded SD1-modded GCB90-RV5 reverb-moddedDS1-modded TS7-modded EH Pulsar-modded EH DMM-EH Holygrail-Line6 DL4-Alesis Wedge Reverb.

Sighs....

hey, interesting subject. so here is my contribution.
something i've used for a few yrs, until i sold them all:

soft-efx.jpg

guitar-crybaby-rat-ts9-ph2 phasor-tr2 tremolo-dd5 delay-korg delay-ce5 chorus
i guess choices of efx depends on ur needs and the type of music ur play. i was playing more of
a bastardized acid-jazz/reggae/dub/funk/rock soundscape then.
now a guitar-crybaby-ds1(or any distortion/od pedal)-ph2-dd5(or any delay pedal) will do...

hey ppl,
sorry, would like to ask a question which i believe has been answered b4 here, but i can't remember...
between a wah, compressor & EQ pedal, which should(or rather, more commonly used to) come first in the chain?
as in:

guitar - ? - ? - ? - Amp. Thanks.

Stillwater:

My personal option probably goes - EQ ->compressor -> wah

The wah will affect the original frequency, so if it's turned off and acts asa bypass, you original tone remains (the way you've tweaked them). :)

there are no "fix" sense. but its up to your preference. putting the wah at the end and at the start have a difference. not say "accessibility" wise. but the tone and sound.

if u like the sound that the wah produces when its being placed at the start, why not?

its just said to be, "preferably" at the end. cause it just sounds "normal" maybe?

ah btw, ever plugged ur cable to the output of the wah pedal? got a cute quack sound. ahahaha quite fun =/

thanks guys for ur advises...
newbie yea i agree too, juz asking for a more typical/common set-up as a guideline :)

thanks scream,
wondering also, wat if i add a DISTORTION n say, a CHORUS pedal in?

so meaning if WAH, COMPRESSOR, DISTORTION, EQ & CHORUS, what would be the more typical sequence?

anyone can help?
thanks in advance.

There is a pretty big difference... usually when you go thru some distortion/OD box, you already get a compressed (sometimes a LOT of compression, depending on gain settings) signal... so if you put your comp at the end of the chain, you get a very compressed signal going into a compressor, which can be quite unheathy for your dynamics... and the comp can colour your tone in ways you don't like. One good thing though, it does help limit your volume so your clean --> crunch --> heavy channels will sound balanced.... of course, put your booster after the comp then. ;)

On the other hand, putting the comp first will allow whatever comes out of your guitar to be evened out nicely (don't overdo it.), then, it goes into your distortion box. This preserves some of your dynamics because your comp isn't adding heavy compression so your picking attack comes thru better and allows your distortion boxes to interpret it better. Plus, my distortion takes on a more obvious character.. My ears prefer it this way... and I like the idea of having a tone thats well balanced across all strings going into my boxes.

Well, if you give me those pedals for Christmas, I'd put in in this order:

EQ, compressor, distortion, chorus and wah. Dunno if that's typical, but I'd put it that way for myself. Part of my rationale agrees with what shredcow has just said previously.

BOSS Giga delay missing here:)

A demeter mid boost... actually meant to be an onboard guitar efx but there's no space in my axe and its more versatile as a pedal. :)

14dB mid boost at a footstep away!

I see that you connect only one power supply to one of your effects huh?? what about the rest?? Use battery?? :)

That adaptor thing is the VisualSound 1spot. All you need is that, and you can connect as many pedals as you wish to the adaptor. All you need are standard daisy chains, and a current draw not exceeding 1700mA , which is alot!
