hey um i'm quite new around here. hoping to learn from this forum.. aha. anyway im looking for new effects to get. wanna make my sound more tight, as well as diverse. anyway, heres my board:

BOSS TU-2 Chromatic Tuner
Ibanez PH-7 Phaser
Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde
Proco Vintage Rat
BOSS CE-5 Chorus Ensemble
BOSS OD-2 Overdrive/Distoortion
DOD FX84 Milkbox Compressor
BOSS DD-20 Giga Delay

yep. looking for more effects, maybe a tremolo, flanger, eq, or more boost. definitely eyeing a boss noise supressor cos the effects are noisy, but can't find any at the moment. any recommendations on what to get or how i should improve my board?

bro it's not really a matter of "improving" your rig. its more to..."do you like the sound your getting?"

its hard to advise on your question cos everyone is subject to their own preferences, you really gota just keep trying pedals and see which ones you like and need. many of us here keep changing pedals and trying different ones for so many months and years and we still can't seem to so called "finalise" our board.

maybe you could share with us more about the music you play and the kind sound you wish to attain before we go on bombarding you with a whole lot of pedal names. haha. :D

hmm okay thanks dric :)

yeah i know its the 'if i like my sound or not' kind of thing. actually, a mix of both. just looking for suggestions on like, what i should start with, whether i should go test it out and see if it suits the kind of music im playing.

two aspects of them:
-church ministry, playing for youth service.
-indie/alternative rock, the guys i usually jam with play stuff like anberlin, lifehouse, switchfoot, yellowcard, dashboard, relient k, our lady peace.

oh and while im at it, still recovering from the anberlin last week. it was HUGE. :)

with the number of pedals you mentioned, there will be noise.

The noise supressor will only be supressing noise when you are not playing. The moment you strike the strings, all the noise will appear. But it aint obvious cos of the instrument sound.

And for the noise, it aint just the pedal, its can be the cables, guitar internal wiring and amp plus environment when you play. Too many factors it can be

imho, you have enough to play. Now is the time to use it and make the music. The more you play, certain needs will be more obvious when it comes along. Have you had a idea of how you wanna use the pedals already have to do something? Or just thinking about doing something with something that you do not have right now?

Heh, which one is a clearer path?

You got quite a complete 'rig', i would say. Play with them around. There're tons of tones that can be achieved in your rig!!!! Other pedals can wait.

mm okay thanks. yeah true the needs havent 'surfaced' yet :/ but yup haha. noise wouldnt be coming from the cables nor the amps that i use usually, cos when the effects are off, usually no noise. but when i turn one of them on its like crazy :/ like, the suppressor would help quieten it down when they're on but im not playing them. yup.

this is the rig ive been using for about one to one and a half years. feel like i should invest in either different effects, or better ones. maybe replacing the phaser cos its quite a budget one.
