Why not just go for a multieffects pedal through a clean amp? Presumably you want various metal tones which may be reliant on various effects. Out of the box, many of these multieffects pedals are set up for over-the-top distortion-effects laden sounds. YMMV ....

To m ears, the most appropriate in descending order is: distortion, 2 ODs in series and finally a single OD pedal. An OD pedal into a distortion pedal is a lottery, depending on the pedals, it might sound good, then again, it might sound like mush.

For boxish high gain, go Peavey. Recently I've also played some Fender solidstate amps with good amounts of gain .... you might wanna check these out as well.

so to say is a lottery to "daisy chain" od and dist pedal in series?

huh peavey??damn shouldnt have sold it to someone.i used to have a peavey transtube amp....damn...sori if ask alot of qn....i need to have near to perfect sound....and just for the record,is the mesa /boogie amp dirty channel,is it aan overdrive kind of sound or dirty,if any1 knows?btw im talking abt the mesa/boogie triple rectifier.(im not buying anw coz i want to have sound near it,maybe?)

U wanna have a near perfect sound u gotta have a near perfect fingers and ears cause thats where most of a great tone is from... Next comes in play is money.. If u got the cash, then only u can get the gd high end equipment..

However if u r lookin for a decent pedal to do ur high gain stuff for metal then I got 3 letters for u... GT2... Or Tech 21 Sansamp GT2 to be exact.. Go and try it out if u havent...

personally.. just abit of info here... no pedal...or pedals can give you the sound of a triple rect.

you can get a decent distortion tone from a combination of dist/OD , od/od pedals..these work fine...
and also multi effects... which have pretty much alot of sounds in a box.

it all depends on your budget... that elusive crazy " chug "sound you hear on the CD is VERY expensive...

my set up simple...
super overdrive-->metalizer (or ds1) --->eq ---> delay
might add flanger or chorus sometime oh even ...or marshall guvnor

just get a basic tone then colour it with the amp...

thats it

Tech21 SANS AMP GT2 pedal....
this is the real answerr
U want hardcore metal sounding. great metal chugging definitions
this pedal has it all.........
From Metallica - Pantera -

its not just the pedal.. the player is also as important.

( caution: try it at ur own risk)

Sinemax, Luther, Esden....
this stores in s'pore have them for sale.

GO TRY Em Now......!!!!!!!!

POWER................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how much they selling?
wat abt boss gx-700.?
and have any idea how much is the cheapest midi footswitch?

get a POD XT... its the best... i have used it in my band for s'pore metal fest.. the sound is killer... u can have the chunkiest dist ever.. plus its a flexible multi effects.. u can tweak it and use effects tht sounds good for other genre as well.. so why not try it... haha...get a second hand one if u have a tight budget... i think theres quite a few pple selling..

i can get a 2nd hand one...but the problem is,they all are selling w/o footswitch....any idea how much the cheapest footswitch and which brand is it?

actually city music is having their year end sale now... so if anything you should go get it from them ...

if you just want switching ability you dont have to use Line 6 foot switch.. if im not wrong you can get other brands of midi foot switches...
i used that for the pod2.0 for a gig...it worked better then the line 6 one.
no expression pedal though.

which price u asking?
used podxt with behringer fcb1010 footswitch..
footswitch ard 280 i think..( its quite large some dont like it)
pros - u got expression n vol pedal to use provided u programme the midi well
or get other cheaper or w/out vol/expression pedal

its also a hassle to carry this stuff to jam/ gig and logistics is important to u
just consider how many banks or patch that ur gonna use?
Btw try and get the latest eprom for the footswitch if u gonna get it.

Thet podxt. Its a very versatile piece of equipment esp with the metal packs.the only problem is that it got no harmonizer or pitch shifter.
i`ve sold my pod to my co guitarist...its listing is 450 at Citymusic now
or u wanna wait for the "live" version coming mid Dec (ard 600+ i think)

Wan if u wanna test the podxt let me know, mayb i can arranged..
Pm me if interested.
