Making a decision on either an Edwards 92CD or Tokai LS90 - would appreciate it much if you could give your input! < S M I L E >.

Tokai LS90 (RP@$1130 w/o gigbag): http://www.kurosawagakki.com/items/detail/27794.html --- BODY: Maple Two Pieces Top Mahogany Back; NECK: Mahogany One Piece Set-Neck, Head Angle 18°; FINGERBOARD: Rosewood; RADIUS: 300R; FRETS: 22F ♯213; SCALE: 625/312mm; BRIDGE: LS-VB Bridge; LS-VT Tailpiece; NUT(width): Bone(43.0mm); INLAY: Dish; PICKUPS : PAF-Vintage MK3×2 (Made In Japan); CONTROLS : 2V.,2T., 3way Toggle SW

Have tried both? Yes. That is why I am asking here.
What I used to have: Yamaha Electric for 8 years.
Now? Fender American Standard Telecaster (MIA).

Pre-owned? Perhaps not as guitar will be used as pretty often.
PRS? Too much to think about!

I would choose the edwards partly due to the cheaper price, SD pickups, and ebony fretboard!!! Tokais r nice too, tried them before, but i prefer the edwards somehow. I currently own an edwards elp 98lts and it is no doubt everyway as gd as a gibson if not better for some.

I agree with MrBukka, the Edwards has better value for moeny than the Tokai, especially the pickups, fretboard and gigbag. But if ur willing to spend around 1.2k, a Burny will be right up ur alley.

Just for the sake of discussion ...

This Tokai forum thread implies that or some Edwards are fabricated in China but assembled in Japan --- http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11894&start=15&sid=d949cdbe8e71fd967ff2391f5fc46716 --- interesting.

I suppose this is never ending but Tokai pieces though fitted with factory Pups, do appear to be favorable in the West, especially Europe.

I am a little confused over the various Edwards 92xx models, as in the Pups. However, DG does not have all these in the shop, just the black and sb units.

these les paul copies all make great guitars.

why dont you come down to my shop to try out the japanese tokais that we have here to have a rough idea of how they are (awesome guitars)
i'll be more then happy to assist you.

you can head down to davis to try the edwards! great guitars too

better to try then make assumptions based on words (reviews) cos its an heavy investment eh

I have the E-LP 92 CD, one word. Screamin'! Sounds great, and it's cheaper. But I haven't tried the Tokai, but the Edwards is certainly worth the buy, even better if a gig bag was thrown in.

Cooler ... kinda

On the Tokai headstock, it says Love Rock instead of Les Paul. Wonder if PM would bring in more of the Tokai's as the black model is not available at their shop!

Oh gosh you have a shop already huh?! hehe

Yes but reviews done with right mindset helps buyers making a better choice eventually. And.. that sentence might hurt a few reviewers here. I hope they know you don't mean to offend anyone. :)

cant really make an objective recommendation between tokai and edwards cos ive never tried a tokai but i will recommend the edwards. so far in my books the best les paul ever and ive tried quite a bit of the stuff. from many different gibsons, recently tried a reissue 59 to even trying a nik huber orca. tried orville and the made in japan epiphones. so far only 2 have stood out and they are an edwards les paul and a gibson studio which i should have bought at swee lee many yrs ago. besides them i cant really vouch for any others. hope this helps.

it is definitely more objective to try an instrument then decide accordingly, rather than finalize one's decision based on reviews. however, an instrument appraisal helps form prior expectations in preperation of sale sweet-talks (should there be any).

despite Tokai not using a more known brand of electronics, their instruments are appealing tone-wise.
