Hello softies, anyone got reviews on this two brand?(model is metioned below)Im getting a new guitar for about Mid August, budget around $1.2k for now if i delay abit more i can get a budget of 1.5k,so i have looked through soft and other forums and i have considered getting this two,

Edwards LP 92CD

Fender '72 Deluxe Telecaster

Open to any other suggestion.Im changing guitar for some reasons, one of them is because my ibanez trem, i just cant handle trem and do not wish to spend anymore money on set-up.I play stuff like Paramore,Flyleaf,BFMV,A7X,GNR and some classic rock.

learn to set up your trem, well i did and i saved alotta cash lol.

that aside, i'd go for the edwards, but with your budget i'd get an orville from japan!

Smart action. To get the old fender. It is not an reissue version right? if not telecaster is more worth. cos Edward doesn't have high resale value.

LadyInTears:I tried learning to set up my trem still has problems, and i wanted the trem because of dive bombs but i dont even really use it in songs i play now,so yeah..no point having the trem.

junhao405:Er..i think my budget impossible to get the original 1972 deluxe telecaster,so yeah a RI not the original one.

Faint. LOL. Edwards is better now. I dun think the new fender is good. (no offence)

me toooo. the only reason i chose the edwards was because im not a fan of teles with strat necks.

i thought the recent built fenders are very well built. the CIJs and MIMs i used to own outplayed how much i paid for them

i think its just some pointless accusation. Firstly, its just EDWARDS and FENDER, no models mentioned. Secondly, is it a comparison of the edwards les paul copy/strat copy/sg copy/(fill in the rest) copy against the fender strat/tele/mustang/jaguar/jagstang or? Thirdly, i must say, if a guitar isn't good, it would most likely due to the player.

we have seen guitar heroes like dhalif sounding as good on cheap craftsman guitar.

Here's my ten cents, my two cents is free.

Compare the 70s fender and the todays fender, the 70s sound bright and clean but currently one are thin and didn't have the original kind of fender tone. (It is because of the pickup, i think) *personal opinion, shoot me if u don't agree*

Imo the '72 deluxe is not really thin, just that stock pots abit muddy but problem can be sloved by changing the pots right? I am comparing this two guitars in terms of if it is worth the money, not trying to say that fender or edwards sucks.

That comparison is far out. You're comparing models with price of so much difference ; one at a range of a thousand and another which is threefold. Its true that MOST JAPANESE and MEXICAN use ceramic pickups attributing to the "thin" sound. But that doesn't mean ALL of todays fenders have ceramic pickups.

Comparing guitars of different era is not reasonable, especially those with difference of several decades. My question is, do you know what makes a vintage guitar sound better?

try my 2008 standard strat and you'll be surprised....really !:)

Not fair... stock.

Anyways, I don't see the diff much for new and old Fenders. it's the player that counts.

its still an american standard....albeit a modded one.... :p

hmm....dimarzio virtual vintage solo neck, area 67 middle, stan heinsley hellion bridge....plus deluxe strat locking tuners and a push pull pot for out of phase switching.

I guess my strat can hold its own against both vintage and modern superstrat types...its fun to see guys with jackson superstrats cringing when my strat chugs better than theirs.
