Eddie's Chain guitar strap - surely that hurts?

Love these pic's of Ed in the 70's - super cool!

But everytime I look at that home made chain strap I wince........I know its not a Les Paul, but even a strat must cut into you - or am I just a wimp?

I'm sure if the guitar is really light weight like say < 3.5kg, it shouldn't be that painful. it'd still be painful after a few hours that's for sure.

looks cool though. sometimes the cool factor surpasses everything.

maybe the strap has a pad at his shoulder?
