I use these ear plugs that cost me about 30 bucks for a pair, I heard that the good part about musician earplugs is that it does not cancel out frequencies, in other words, you hear everything, except softer. Earplugs for general use, on the other hand, if you notice, is like covering your ears with your hands, all the high pitched noises generally become less prevalent but you can still hear the bass frequencies very clearly(which may even become annoying), that's probably why you'd want to get musician earplugs.
