DS-1 selectable multiple clipping mod

Oh I didn't do anything to the pot. LOL, But i guess I"ll just revesre the wiring lah, then it'll be back to normal. hehe, no issue, just lazy... hehe

Hey dude, though its not really relevant, but something I need to know.
SPDT,DPDT,or3PDT switches all don't need power to operate right? Its just a swittch right? You use batteries in your bypass boxes mainly for the LED only right?

Hmm maybe you reversed the wiring on the board?

The common switches you see are all mechanical switches, no need power. The batteries are there only for the LEDs on my bypass boxes, correct. They would work perfectly without power, you just won't be able to tell if it's bypassed or not heh :D

ok okay thanx for the info man. Wah the 3dpt switch expensive siah! The fulltone one cos 18 bucks!!! woo hoo..

Where do you get your casings from man? Care to share lobang?

Man you inspired me to start fiddling around with this stompbox shit man, thanx alot!

Woo... Finally recorded some stuff of my DS-1 mod.

Pardon the lousy playing, the the different styles is just to demonstrate the range of the new DS-1. I think the pinch is damn bloody sweet. Really sings...

A touch too heavy on the bottom end. Still experimenting with some cap values. Doesn't sound nice on lousy amps.

The track goes from dirty blues rhythm -> blues lick -> rock -> abit of metal.
hehe...

some cheap 25 watt Johnson amp. with quite a huge cut on the bass. cos it cannot take it.

So far I've tried it on a Kustom with celestion speakers, it sounds more sweet than this. and everything turns out real fine. almost the perfect pedal in my eyes.

But tryin on a roland jazz chorus from Weelee wah the sound was really terrible. So I'm really at a loss. so I'm goin to try to remod again to cut come of the low end,.

ps:
aiyah my playing is just half a bad of tricks only lah. nothing special one lah.

I need more feedback sound wise actually hehe

What cap value are you using now? You're refering to C10 right? 0.47 generally works great, more low end than stock but won't flab out like it is now.

What diodes are in there?

different color LEDs got different clipping characteristics right?

size = duh? :wink:

anw will running more LEDs in the clipping section in series increase the amount of distortion?

The size also seems to affect the clipping characteristics.

More LEDs in series will increase the headroom, meaning less distortion but more volume usually.

An LED and a silicon diode is usually quite enough and is how keely's ultra mod works I believe.

purple sounds better than orange. add fur trimmings to get more hair from the distortion.

as you can tell from my posts, im bored at work.

how the different color affects it?

The colour will probably have more effect than the size. Size sometimes is actually just the lens.

In general red LEDs have lowest threshold voltage, followed by orange and green.

White could have been made by putting 3 leds in one package (RGB), or some other methods so you'll never know. Only way to be sure is to test them out.

LOL... I never knew the color affects... Like you said... it might just be the color of the plastic covering the bulb.

Oh blueark. yeah its 3mm red. yeah I agree on the less distortion more volume part. thats why i only replaced D5, instead of D5 and 4.

So nobody has anything to say about the sound instead? LOL
