Drumsets

ok danial... so basically you are scouting for a drum set i see from your various threads started. Why don't you give us more details about your factors? Eg. Budget, housing, quality. Then maybe we can help you out by advising you to get the most reasonable drumset in your price range?

cheers

hmm...
the pearl target is a rather, uncommon drumset around eh?as in,quite few ppl use it.ive also put that set into cosideration before but it doesnt seem to have any features which attract me :(

Okay here are more details,

Budget: Less than 1K (including stool and evevrything for a full set) and most be value for money
Type: Jus standard 4/5 piece set
Brand: Unsure (pls reccomend make as well)
Housing: Condominium - Living on Ground Floor (no neighbours below but 2 neighbours beside and 1 neighbour ontop)
Plans: Willing to invest in a muffler set and place many many stuff in the room to reduce the sound. Will only use a as a kit to practice around and not planning to record on it or bring it to gigs

Cheers
Danial

wah thats a tight budget man...
anyways, you will have to save up for better cymbals man...

according to your details,i think u can either go for :
1) pearl rythem traveller
2) tama stagestar
3) mapex Q series

finally, these are the sets which may be louder but fall under your budget:
5) pearl export fusion set (the one at sweelee's for about 1k)
6) peace demoliton (check it out at ezimusic.com)
7) tama swingstar*
8) pearl forum*

*: not sure of pricing but should fall under your budget

i think you should get the peace demolition. it is really a good set. i myself i'm using it. therefore i'm recomending. its power!. for tt price. the drum hardware is good. alhough the stand suck. the pedals are relatively smooth.(must buy serperate)

wah thats what i hate man...exclude so many items, boom cymbal stand,pedal...but it does look interesting and the black finnishing looks,WOW!,the pedal is seprate but is it peace pedal?how much btw?and when u buy the drumset they got give u futher discount or is it fixed at $850?

i think im either getting the demolition set or the pearl export fusion.but u mentioned the stands suck?hmm....already a neg. point >_<
the export fusion good price leh ^^ should check it out,the hardware also solidz

haha i personally haven tried the pearl export. the wood is different btw. 1 poplar the other mahagony yup. but they are all made in taiwan so whether there really is a difference in wood i dunno. same maker just different sticker. however the demolition has more plys. actually when it comes to home playing the stands dun really mater as you wun hit really tt hard right? yup. and when it comes without the pedal you can directly invest in a double. this saves your money in the long run. oh ya i doubt the pearl pedal would be good. i have the peace velocity double pedal. its smooth. and cheaper compared to the the iron cobra. but still up to you. the last choice is yours. remember dun buy on impulse and regret after that. be sure of what you wan.

cheers hope my comments help.

Are ypu serious about drumming? I mean will you be palying on a band or something?
If not, jus buy a used Kit. U can check luthermusic.com for a used set. there's a lot there.
Advantage of the used kit
1. Cheap but good brand
2. Its resale vaule will be close to the amount you purchased it.
3. When you got tired of drumming it doesnt hurt much to think you invested a lot in something that you are then letting go.
4. What you save can be used to buy VERRY GOOD CYMBALS (USED AS WELL)
Disadvantage:
1. Not 100% appealing to the eyes
2. You must do a lot of research on what to watch out for (you do research even if you buy a new one, ryt?)
3. May require cleaning before you play (unlike the new one that you play out of the box)

Still up to you man..

IMO mapex's entry series are always the best for beginners in terms of quality and value for $$$. prob is mapex is quite rare in sg, in fact VERY rare... if im not wrong, only drum resource has it, and the drum resource kits so far ive seen are all the higher end mapexs... you can try your luck though

concerning the target, i have two friends who use, i wont say its superb, but IMO pretty reasonbale for what u pay... just invest in new skins and i must say they sound quite good... then if u cant put up with stock cymbals, get some very cheap ones for the time being to PRACTICE ONLY... rite after that start saving and investing in cymbals cymbals and more cymbals (high quality ones of course b20 bronze) because those babies will be with you tru gigs and studio all your life

yea like i said... the ones in drum resource now are the higher ends of mapex, orion if im not wrong... if u want an entry level mapex u can perhaps ask nigel to order it in fer you

nop,no need for that, there is currently a mapex Qr series there, good set,but its around 1.2k(as checked from nigel yesterday)
