Drummer for American Idol

Am I the only one who thinks that the drummer for the show 'American Idol' is an absolute monster? He can play so many styles with such dexterity and he's always in the pocket! Great drum sound too. Anybody know who he is? It's a Black man...

To be honest I've not noticed him until you mentioned it. And yes, he must be pretty talented and versatile.
But then again, the different songs on American Idol are not exactly from the polar ends of the musical spectrum.

Another similar and worthy mention would be that lady on 'Whose Line is it Anyway?'
Now, she plays the guitar and the piano and everything else.
A little irrelevant, so my apologies.

yes! i think the lady from 'whose line issit anyway' quite talented to be able to play different stuff. haha..

hmm. but then she also like always play the same tune one.

thinking along the same line, the bassist from american idol is really awesome too. check out his playing on Lisa Tucker's Signed Sealed Delivered Im Yours. really awesome bass playing.

could be wrong. but...

Well you dont walk into Hollywood and end up playing sessions on the most watched TV show in the world without being at the top of your game! I'm sure all of that band are first call session players.

I really like the house band on rockstar...awesome.

The drummer's called Nate Morton... check him out on www.n8drums.com.
Haha, I actually emailed him to say that I digged his stuff while watching rockstar last year and he actually replied! (hopefully it's not a bot)

He was also here in SG a few yrs back for the American Idols Live tour, and is a berklee alumnus...

Teddy Campbell eh? He's awesome! It may be hard to hear what he's playing sometimes due to the live situation, but if you have the chance, go hear some past episodes. I was totally floored by his playing on Aretha Franklin's 'Think' and Stevie Wonder's 'Part-time Lover'. Although it's mostly pop/rock/r&b stuff, he does them all with fluidity AND chops to boot. Best of all, he never overplays. I never expected to hear such caliber of drumming on a live pop-oriented tv show!

Funny!

Had no idea there was a thread like that back in 2006! HAHA

Well.. the key ppl that were mentioned in this thread....Nate, Rafael, Teddy have all came to Singapore to perform in Singapore Drumfest 2007 and 2008 respectively!

Yes...they are awesome!

Wait for the videos!

Hope many of you went and caught it!
