hi guys...i'm a beginner and i'm on the verge of purchasing a drumset....i would jus like ur opinion on whether i shud invest on a drumset (lazer or carlos due to budget) or an electronic drumpad (yamaha dd-65)? cos i checked with several ppl sayin that the dd-65 produce sounds that are "fake" afterall, it's a MIDI equipment....but i would like to know more from you guys...the experts :)

IMO, as an amateur drummer myself, get an acoustic if you can. To me, DD-65 isn't really...for beginners. I got myself a DTXplorer and isn't really satisfied by it as a drumset. However, it got its pros (try playing drums at 3am =D) on its own.

If you're living in the HDB, be prepared for the police. Although they cant stop you from playing, they are a real pain in the ass.

well ya im aware of that....the only main issue with acoustic drums is that you have to bear with your neighbour's complaints....but how true is it that if i were to use muffle heads on the drum, the sound that i make won't be heard by my neighbour next door? anyways, muffle heads are quite ex...rite?

hey thx alot bro....wow and it's only $21.00....except that i still have to get muffles for the cymbals :(....anyways now that the "fear-of-complain" issue is settled....i've got another problem....carlos and lazer which ones better? my budget's ard 300-500 sumthin...

That I can't help, especially I don't own an acoustic yet. Maybe other SOFTies can.

All I can say is try out the drumkit if you can, its just like some people prefer Zildjian cymbals of Paiste cymbals, or Iron Cobra pedals over Yamaha Flying Dragon pedals, and vice versa. Its all about which one you prefer I would say. Its just like me choosing the DTXplorer although most will say the Roland one would be better. Cheers!

I would say U should buy an acoustic set. I personally own that kind of electronic drum (dd 65 for your case), and is not that useful. Must well save more and buy a set and muffle it. It helps much in your drumming

I say go for a Roland HD-1 (E.drumset) for now. Its really a good deal for that price you're paying($1.6k i think). Swee Lee's having a 50% sale for it right now, the $1.6k price tag is after discount :)

try get carlos set then u can just change skin, add drum rack, add cymbal, then slowly u can upgrade bit by bit, thats wat im doin now but take my advise, play on daytime only...cheerz!
