DR black coated strings

Hi guys, does anyone here know where I can get DR black coated strings, the black beauties? Davis doesn't seem to carry them. I think I read from somewhere that the black ones do not last as long as the red and blue ones, is that true? I have been using the black diamonds but the coating keeps flaking off, and it's kind of annoying. I just tried the DR red strings, but they seem out of place on my guitar.

Also, any idea if the 1st 3 strings of DR strings are made of steel or nickel?

i think Davis not bringing in any more black version. yes, the black ones aren't as durable as the red/ blue sets. i've given up on the Black Diamond- flakes off too easily 8)

i just went to davis and i could have sworn they were carrying both the black DRs and the Red Devil DRs. i prefer to use regular DRs and after i wipe down the strings each session, i use this liquid polymer coating thing (it's kinda like string cleaner except it coats your strings with a polymer) to prolong my string life. it's basically like using Red Devils or Elixirs or any kind of guitar string with coating, except you apply it yourself so you can keep applying it and prolong your string life even longer than if you bought coated strings. i forget what brand it is. i think it's made by DR as well though.

also, unlike most coated strings, it doesn't make the strings feel funny.

in fact, DR has that coating fluid- DR String Life
it's meant to be applied once only, when you have a fresh set of strings in your guitar, before you start playing.

hey! yeah, that's what i use. oh well. i put a light coating after each playing session (after wiping down my fretboard and strings, of course). works for me.

I got one bottle too, and it states that it is to be applied before and after playing. Hey sub, where do you get your DR black beauties?

how much does it cost?

EDIT: I think my post sounded a little rude sorry subversion.. I meant to say that it's selling for $16 bucks, and I'm into my 2nd bottle already. I was in a hurry to get off the computer when I posted that and I didn't think. :D Hope you aren't angry with me sub!

hey man- no worries, no offence taken 8) in this faceless world of the internet, one has to learn to perceive unseen circustances at work & not get offended easily, unless ill-intentions are really made clear... you have friends here @ SOFT, no worries...

so the DR fluid is lesser than i thought- i got mixed up, i quoted the price for the DR colored string set... really getting old...

i'm actually indifferent to the colour, no more back coated DR, no worries, since i know the red/ blue set lasts longer. currently have the red set in several guitars, this Fender Tele is one of them...

Alright cool :D Your guit looks nice.. But the reds don't fit my guitar. Tried them for one day, and I'm back to uncoated strings for now. Still DR tho. :D I'm contemplating on getting elixirs, but before that I wanna see if how long normal DR strings with stringlife will last. Having a guitar with black strings really adds to visual appeal, and that they don't rust is and added plus, also when the coating flakes off the guitar looks nice and worn, but the 'dust' from the flaking of the coating pisses me off. It was all over my white pickguard :?

I'm thinking of buying the blue or red coated strings. Do they flake at all? I would hate to see something like what happened to sanXp's pickguard.
