What do u look for when buying a new guitar?
HOw do you know that the sound is good?
What about the "feel" people have been saying?

any suggestions guys?

Dos: whack that sales fella when he guai lan...
don'ts: check the playability, setup, fret buzz etc...

jus kiddin... have a good weekend :D

Do's :: test the guitar thru a reasonably good amp. essentially, u want to get a sound that u like, don't bother what others think about it. its about u enjoying urself after all ^^

Don'ts :: don't buy a guitar that u don't want, but just bcoz some friends said its good etc or it is commonly used, or ur idol uses it. just because someone else likes it, it doesnt mean u can be happy with it. get something u like, whatever it may be, after all, u intend to keep that guitar for as long as possible, don't u?

hope that was of help ^^

STRONGLY AGREE. I keep recommending my friend this S520EX 2005 guitar. He likes it a hell lot, and he feels most confortable on it but hes gonna get Hide's signature model cos (according to him) "Hide plays it, so it must be good. if not why he use?" I felt like smacking him. But oh well. I've explained countless times and been so patient. Best part. hes just a hobbyist. Once in a while kinda thing.

haha...tts what my frend said too...i also feel like smacking him down...not everyone will feel the same with the same guitar...a guitar tt r used by u fav guitarist might not eventually suits u the most...

so do check the guitar more and find one that really suits u...dun just buy for the sake of buying..its a total waste of money...

Dos: check for finnish and tone sound through a good amp at the shop. check for action, tuning, fretboard, QC. buy smth u like

donts: condemning cheap (e.g. MIC) brands

Don't install a bomb in the trem cavity. If you wanna bomb the MRT station, fix it outside the casing lar :). Ok sheesh I drank too much.

Do: try it

Don't: Don't expect that it will be the last purchase

+1

er, another Do::
read lots of reviews on the instrument u r interested in, that is pretty important. however, u gotta rmb not to take those reviews word for word. u'll probably want to read about the more technical points, eg body shape, the quality of the *stock pickups, etc etc. pple might be "biased" though, so u might wanna read a big lot of it, to get a general idea. and of course, test it ^^

If there's something that can be used to examplify the word "cliché" its playing those 2 songs.

shouldn't get those that is too cheap that the guitar when u play it sucks. Never buy a guitar that makes u wanna put it down once u start playing it. No matter how cheap it is. It'll just kill your interest in guitar playing.

I don't know what are the dos cos I am a noob but I do know some don'ts from bad experience as you can see...

Don't buy on impulse... safe up and buy what can last you for a while. Know your stuff before buying like list price specs and such. Never buy guitar if you never tried out before... cos same model can have different feel... Know your needs before deciding on buying... for example if you don't use whammy bar why pay for a floyd? Never buy a guitar that have looks and sound but not much playability.

floyd = short form for the floyd rose bridge. Not exactly the friendliest bridge to the average beginner due to the relatively troublesome restring procedures and maintainance.

put simply, if you don't need them, settle for something with a vintage trem or hardtail :)
