Don Grosh Custom Guitars

Hi,

Would like to find out if the community here knows about Don Grosh's custom guitars and if you guys are willing to pay for his guitars? (Basically you can spec out any of your dream guitars and he'll build it to perfection, or close to that, for you. His guitars after conversion to SGD are in the $4K range.)

Thanks! :)

Don Grosh has been receiving rave reviews in the US for his exceptional build and quality. He makes five different models at the moment - Bent Top, Carve Top, Flat Top, Retro Classic and Set Neck. He's doing some prototypes at the moment for a new line of guitars.

Let's check out his website at www.groshguitars.com and the many rave reviews he has on http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/brand/Grosh+Guitars.

If it were brought into Singapore, are you guys willing to buy them?

i dunno man but in terms of specs i feel his guitars lose out to anderson and suhr which also fall in around the same price or maybe just a wee bit higher. theres also tyler and melancon which also come in around that quality. more up market would be lentz and gvcg guitars which are all the rave for the classic strat kinda thing.

Can compare ma, our own local dealer who brings in the POT guitars always mention how bloody good their stuff are. How bang for buck to be thai made as compared to premium US branding

hahaha. suhr and anderson also around 4k+. i got my suhr somewhere around that price. but the trick is u must look really hard to snag one at that price. anderson would be a lil cheaper. a custom anderson would set u back somewhere abt 3k USD with drop top and shipping as well if u place ur order with jack from magdon music. i almost went down the anderson way but i wanted steel frets and the silent single coil system in my guitar and andersons though around the same ballpark in terms of specs unfortunately cant fit the BPSSC due to a diff sized backplate.

can compare, why not? Just like the POT guitars that our local dealer are bringing in, touted to be bang for buck and as well made if not better than US high end guitars. Their maple tops are so amazing that they looked dead upon arrival

From all the hype, till the stock arrived and seeing it in person...it looks no better than a photoflame veneer top. Horribly dyed fretboards...the list goes on.

Hmm.

edo83, Brian (guy from ur band whom I know from school) had iterated what you've just mentioned to me previously... is it really that bad?

Be prepared to be blown away when you get a chance to look at what suhr, anderson or thorn has to offer. For a glimpse of what is better, observe the more decent maple tops from PRS.

I wouldn't even pay 1k to own a POT. End of story here, back to Don Grosh guitars. mercurial, i would think that bringing Grosh guitars in.....unless u're planning only a handful, if in excess of 10 there might be problems selling them all off.

The more popular grosh guitars are the Classic strat/tele and the set necks. IMO, if you want a super strat style with custom specs, its better to go the anderson and suhr route.
:D

oh prs has very good tops too. but so far id hand it to anderson for the flame top stuff. if ure gonna spend abt 5k on a guitar going either anderson or suhr would be safe. both have nice souped up specs and very player features. but try not to go with the gotoh 1088 on a suhr. the arm rattles. pisses me off. thankfully i dont use the trem much. oh well and 1 more thing, i believe with suhr and anderson, they actually pick the woods really carefully. my suhr with 2month old strings sound way better than my prs with fresh strings and kinman pickups. says quite a bit.

Interesting things you guys have said. I reckon John Suhr's guitars are good, but I don't believe them to be better than Don Grosh's or James Tyler's. Thanks for all your feedback. It's also nice to know the input from the guys who actually own these fine boutique guitars too. :)
