Doing a full strum on electric guitar

Hi, I have been wondering how does people make their full strums on electric guitar with drive & distortion sound like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8uvW2HNZNw). Whenever i did full strums on my guitar, it gets very noisy, dirty and muddy. I'm using a TGM 10W amp + Zoom G2.1u. My guitar is with emg-esp pick-ups. Thanks guys.

I don't think the guy in the video is strumming all his strings, although it may look like he is. Judging from the sound, he is playing at most 3 strings only.

But I know some songs which uses non-power chords plus distortion tone, particularly the indie rock genre songs. You might want to try reducing the distortion, or else the tone will sound 'thin' and noisy.

yeah the guys using power chords. doubt he is really strumming all 6 strings if not, he has a great pickup.. i have a fren who strums 3 strings in power chord, but he really looks like he strums all 6.

lol that song!

yup hes strumming 3 strings only

drop d tuning. sounds like hes using a heavy overdrive

and hes using a decent amp

*took down video; i'll record a proper cover tonight*

im running a distortion pedal into a overdrive pedal (both low gain)
