Does string size affect fret buzz with low action?

I'm trying to get a low action on the bass minus all the fret buzzing. Even after fixing my truss rod to be straight, the frets on the upper scale still buzz when the action is low. Does any softies know how to fix this problem? Does the string gauge affects the buzz? Or are the problems with my frets?

p/s I'm currently using a set of .045-.100 gauge strings btw.

the string size doesn't affect the action by itself. rather, heavier gauges will be higher tension, hence affecting the bow. but since you said the neck is straight, this is not the problem now.

there are 2 things that can affect action, 1) bridge saddle height, and 2) the bow. to get the action just nice, you need to balance the 2. to avoid having to raise the bridge saddles any further, loosen the truss rod slightly. give it maybe 1/4 turn at a time. the neck is good when it is slightly off straight.
